Poll question: How soon after the presidential election, will gas prices go up? |

What say you?
personally, I think the only reason for the low gas prices currently is the election.

3. I predicted weeks ago on many sites that gas would be below $3 on election day |
|
The trading price is below $1.90 so the direction is smack down. You've got to be a dunce to fill up right now. Get $10 or whatever you need. A few days later the price is guaranteed to be lower.
It probably doesn't help Obama that the gas prices will drop. States like Georgia and North Carolina have had atypical high prices and gas shortages since Ike, which has helped Obama's standing in those states. But in the next couple of weeks it figures to normalize.
In 2006, gas rose about 12 cents almost immediately after election day. I wish I had a massive tank and could afford to buy about 100,000 gallons at cheap rate this fall. The global dynamics are still in place for sky high prices to restore next year and beyond.

I had no idea the trading price was so low at the moment.

Gasoline prices almost always fall after the summer peak and start rising before spring. In this case we're seeing prices drop faster and more than they normally do in the fall due to the impending economic downturn.
Which is not to say there isn't any political manipulation - the Saudis even admitted it in 2004.

right after palin gets on TV and tells us that if she had been elected, ANWR would have been drilled, lowering gas prices...
At least, that my best guess.
