Sixth Man to Walk on Moon (Mitchell)...thinks Aliens have visited Earth
snip

"A few insiders know the truth . . . and are studying the bodies that have been discovered," said Mitchell, who was the sixth man to walk on the moon.

Mitchell, who landed on the moon with Alan B. Shepard, said a "cabal" of insiders stopped briefing presidents about extraterrestrials after President Kennedy.

2. Shrub would freak if he were told....
no doubt it would cause a realignment of the twelve brain cells he has left, effectively rendering him useless to TPTB....

question is, will they tell kerry? Probably not, I think.

But I also would consider it likely that they WOULD tell Kucinich.

25. When they told him to announce a new Mars program
he probably thought it was just a trip to some country in Africa without an airstrip.

3. Gordon Cooper does too
Col. Gordon Cooper.

"I believe that these extraterrestrial vehicles and their crews are visiting this planet from other planets which obviously are a little more technically advanced than we are here on Earth. I feel that we need to have a top level, coordinated program to scientifically collect and analyze data from all over the earth concerning any type of encounter, and to determine how best to interface with these visitors in a friendly fashion.... For many years I have lived with a secret, in a secrecy imposed on all specialists and astronauts. I can now reveal that every day, in the USA, our radar instruments capture objects of form and composition unknown to us. And there are thousands of witness reports and a quantity of documents to prove this, but nobody wants to make them public." -Colonel L. Gordon Cooper, Mercury and Gemini Astronaut, in an address to the UN in 1985 after announcing that he had seen and chased UFOs over Germany in the 1950s.

and..

Donald Slayton, Mercury astronaut, in a 1951 interview.

"I was testing a P-51 fighter in Minneapolis when I spotted this object. I was at about 10,000 feet on a nice, bright, sunny afternoon. I thought the object was a kite, then I realized that no kite is gonna fly that high. As I got closer it looked like a weather balloon, gray and about three feet in diameter. But as soon as I got behind the darn thing it didn't look like a balloon anymore. It looked like a saucer, a disk. About the same time, I realized that it was suddenly going way from me-and there I was, running at about 300 miles per hour. I tracked it for a little way, and then all of a sudden the damn thing just took off. It pulled about a 45 degree climbing turn and accelerated and just flat disappeared.

4. As does Story Musgrave...
I had the pleasure of working with Story a couple of times. He's one of the most intelligent beings on the planet. As well as being my favorite astronaut of all time. I engineered a free-form spoken word recording for him. He looked at images of Earth taken from low earth orbit and just let it happen. Here's what he has to say in an interview with Omni:

---OMNI: There are those who believe beings have already made contact, and that the government doesn't want to tell us. And we'll never know the answer to that.

Musgrave: Yeah, we will. But I believe the government has told me all there is to know about classified things, and I do not believe there is any information relating to UFOs that they're keeping from us.

OMNI: Who do you think's out there?

Musgrave: Living creatures far more developed as civilizations. They've been around for 100 million years, and we can't even conceive how advanced they are and the kinds of things they're doing. That's why I make an effort to communicate, and might be considered eccentric because I do, because I know the probabilities are close to zero. But I do tell them to come down and get me.

OMNI: How would you signal them?

Musgrave: Let's just say I express a desire that whatever is out there would come down and get me. And if they came for me, unconditionally, I'd go. If they're that advanced, they probably know my requirements in terms of oxygen, pressure, and other things. If dimensions exist that are beyond our conceptual ability, they define reality also. I do not impose my limitations on the system. I recognize that this room is not this room, but only the way I perceive it. The signature a bat has of this room, seeing it in ultrasound, or a fly with that great big eye it has--neither looks upon my reality as I do. It's frightening to realize I'm in an environment that is nothing like the reality I perceive. My perceptions are there for one reason: I survive in this environment. There is no reality anywhere of anything. So in this situation, how do we transcend space? The speed of light appears to be a block so that, based on what we know now, we'll never go anywhere. We might be able to use electromagnetic energy, which does go at the speed of light. If you encode this energy you send out, maybe it's possible.--

6. The Amazing Randi
Obviously just loopy crank Air Force pilots with nothing better to do than to delve into conspiracy theories. Who trusts these highly trained pilots anyway?

Can't you find a more credible source, like the Amazing Randi :eyes:

10. I can't imagine that beings from other planets would contact our
GOVERNMENTS, especially since the people running our governments aren't particularly bright, progressive or open minded.

They would in fact, I have to believe, pursue contact with far more enlightened humans; scientists, intellectuals, great thinkers.

So I don't think our government is hiding anything.

Besides, I wouldn't be surprised to discover that Dr. Musgrave is himself, in fact, an alien. I mean, take a look at this:

7. Could a sitting president DEMAND to be told the whole truth
about the issue? And would s/he be able to get the real answer? (That is assuming, of course, the sitting president just had the intellectual curiosity to want to know the 'known knowns'.)

9. everything about presidents..
this is a good site =)
http://www.presidentialufo.com/

-snip-
President Jimmy Carter has often been referred-to as the "UFO President" due to the fact that he publicly claimed to have had a UFO sighting prior to becoming president. Moreover, he was the only president on record to actually file a UFO sighting report related to his sighting. Thirdly, on at least one occasion while campaigning for president, Carter declared that, if elected, he would "make every piece of information this country has about UFO sightings available to the public and scientists."

then it got dropped.. hmm

16. Great Story
I would sure be interested in getting this story on tape, as I have been trying to ask Carter a similar question for years. I run the Presidents UFO Web Site. I had Carter on a talk show twice ready to ask him if he were briefed on the subject of UFOs. (ie. Someone walked into the Oval Office and officially told him what is going on). One time the show ended before my turn came up, and the other the question was first accepted and then rejected for the show minutes later. I did however get Cheney to answer the "briefing" question.

Please contact me.

8. There's been a major shift of thinking in my lifetime
It used to be that scientists thought that we were alone in the universe, but ever since we've been finding a hell of a lot of planets out there, things have started to shift in their thinking.

I truely think that it would be hubristic to think that we're the only intelligent lifeform out there. The major question now seems to be: how do they get from there to here. That dang speed of light problem.

There's probably lots of ways arround that problem. Just because we haven't figured them out it doesn't mean they don't exist.

Now are aliens giving anal probes to Joe Schmoe? THAT I HIGHLY doubt.

13. I've been into science for a long time
As both an amateur and a professional. Thirty years or more. Since I was a small child. And I don't ever recall a period where most scientists thought we were alone in the Universe.

We always expected to find lost of other solar systems. We knew they hadn't been found yet (prior to the mid 1990s) because of the limitations of our equipment and techniques, not because of their lack of existence. Our technology has improved, and now we are finding other solar systems. This is remarkable, but it hasn't been surprising.

As for the rest of your comments, I agree completely.

:-)

Peter

15. Why would an advanced civilization want to come here?
It is safe to assume that for a society to reach a certain level of advancement that it will understand the dilemma of a zero sum game.

Once this is understood by a society it would be very unlikely that they would intervene with the affairs of a society that was not as advanced as they were because of huge negative impact it would have.

18. nothing about it makes much sense..
IF assuming the phenomena exists,
the visitations may pre-date humanitys appearance on the planet.

figuring out the motive, also assumes you can even understand an alleged extra-terrestial thought process..

not sure its that easy =)

21. You assume that inner planetary exploration is zero sum
or that if it is zero sum, that a society of advanced technology would care.

I can see a technologically advanced alien species that acts in an extreme "nationalistic" manner, replacing "nation" with "planet," looking to rape the resources of other planets, or a species that exists by havesting the resources of other species.

For neither of these types of visitors would the details of zero sum gaming matter one bit.

22. It is a matter of logic
if a species was able to ban together as a planet, then they would have to understand the idea of "we all win together." With that fundamental idea, the idea of harvesting other occupied plants becomes ridiculous.

It would be far more beneficial to allow an independent civilization to advance at their own pace, in there own direction. This is because who knows 50 million years down the line you my come up against a problem that they could solve, but you couldn't, because of the nature of their technology or the manner in which they think.

One of the most brilliant person I know once showed me a mathematical proof of this theory and it was pretty amazing.

but the credible events tell another story.

therefore, the et logic is "different" and most likely hard to understand
in any human terms whatsoever.
