batches because you use a cabbage head and a a lot of noodles (egg noodles or homemade)... then one or two large onions and loads of butter...
I love it served warm with a dollop of sour cream!

not as thin as coleslaw. Saute it in butter or oleo until it carmelizes , turns a little brown. Add salt and pepper. Boil about a pound or 3/4 pound of good egg noodles ("Kluskies" are good). Drain the noodles, mix the two together. Homemade noodles are best.

Are there supposed to be onions in this recipe or not? I don't think so but I want to ask a pro. Think it would taste good with those "eggless" egg noodles for people with cholesterol problems?
BTW, this is an excellent dish for people on constrained budgets in the Bush* economy...cheap and hearty. Nothin' like good old peasant food! Wouldn't it be great if we could people to post their favorite recipes from their immigrant grandparents or whoever?
