need help completely removing AOL |
|
I am on windows XP and have used add and remove programs to remove AOL 9.0 that wasn't working from my computer. However,it didn't completely remove everything associated with AOL.
When I reinstalled 9.0 I still have the original problem when trying to connect as it remembers my old information.
Could anyone please tell me how to remove any remaining parts of AOL 9.0 (that add and remove programs left behind) so that I could start anew with a clean install?
Appreciate any help you can offer. Thanks

you can't get rid of it, it infects every bit and byte of your computer. Assimilation is inevitable, resistance is futile.

you didnt say whether you are going to using aol - ill assume you arent. go to start, control panel, system, hardware, device manager then dbl click on network adapters - if aol is in there erase it. Go to search and type in * aol. It will search for any traces of aol in win explorer and system To completely remove it you have to wipe it from the registry. This can be tricky if you make a mistake because once erased from registry its gone. So be very careful if you do this. Start/run/ type in regedit registry will open . go to edit - then find - then type in aol - it will begin to search - you can then erase if if you choose to. Once youve erased press f3 and it will s tart looking again. If you have the slightest doubt about anyting dont touch it!!! GOOD LUCK

7. Go to the control panel - network connections |
|
and remove the old connection. Then create a new connection, using the connection wizard.
