I love that part of the Detroit Zoo. I could spend hours there. Nice pictures, by the way.

2. You and me both. My son loves this exhibit and the polar bear is
usually really into playing around for the visitors. They did a great job. :hi:

3. The Detroit Zoo, like the Detroit Institute of Arts, is very underrated.
Y'know, folks, there is a lot to love in Michigan. The Detroit Institute of Arts is one of the great museums of the world; the Detroit Zoo is certainly one of the best; add in Henry Ford Museum/Greenfield Village; Frankenmuth; Mackinac Island; northwest lower Michigan; the Great Lakes (we win on that, hands down); the seasons, etc. OK, I will post separately.

8. That reminds me of the pics we took at the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago.
Except we saw dolphins. We first saw the dolphin show sitting in the seats. Good show. We wandered down a level and saw the exhibits. We happened to be down there when another show started. Everybody else stampeded upstairs. We decided to stay put. Awesome. Highly recommed this as the ONLY way to watch it! We had the place to ourselves. Had our chairs right next to the glass. We could hear what the trainers were saying from the speaker without the amphitheater echo. Really cool. :)

9. Polar bears are evolving into sea mammals.
At least that's what I've read.

11. Something I learned as a small child
The polar bears at the Detroit Zoo LOVE marshmallows. They will snag them out of the air if you toss them some. Oh, and the bees around the concession stands are only hanging out because they want some of your Vernor's Ginger Ale. The zoo used to sell the honey (don't know if they still do), which distinctly tasted of, well, ginger ale.
John
I'm sure polar bears everywhere like marshmallows. But bees outside of Detroit (well, Royal Oak) are SOL on the Vernor's.
