Does anyone know where to get an adult tricycle?
My ass falls over on bicycles, but I like the idea of biking to local stores.

Help.

2. Find a retirement living mobile home park
locate an owner with dementia and offer him a case of Ensure in trade.

Recumbents are pretty cool:

23. Yeah, you have a bit of a horizon problem
But 18 wheelers would probably sail right over you. :)

But it's easier to carry stuff on a regular trike without having to resort to a trailer.

26. Recumbent bicycles are excruciatingly latte liberal --
don't ride around on one of those while wearing an Obama button -- there's no surer way to win votes for McCain!

What's the difference between a one-speed and a three-speed?

7. Multiple gears
Useful if you've got hills and such on your way. Though I can't really picture you tearassing up a steep hill with your groceries on the back of a trike, either way.

9. The grocery store is a little over a mile away
and no, there aren't really any burly hills in Redding. :D

More useful: the hardware store. A pain to walk to, a cinch to bike to. ;)

I have never shopped at a wal-mart, but to save a thousand dollars? Might be worth a look.

(And to defend my own ass: I had ear infections when I was little, and I HAVE fallen off the front porch before, and hurt my ass BADLY. I am, in short, the worst klutz you will ever meet. I am going NOWHERE on a bike.)

13. Yes, I purchased one for my my son, many years ago.
It totally lit up his world that he might be "kinda normal" in a totally un-normal world.

I sure hope it is not your intention to make fun.

21. It is TOTALLY not my intention to make fun
As I said upthread, my ass HAS fallen over while standing still.

I like the idea of not driving everywhere, but I have never been able to ride a bike and I think a trike would really fit the bill.

And I am old enough that I really don't care if people think I'm a dork. I just want to be able to get some exercise, save the planet, and get my groceries at the same time.

14. don't totally give up on bikes yet
i bet if you rode one for 2 weeks you would be doing great. It can be akward at first but if you keep doing it, it becomes second nature and almost as natural as walking.

16. google...
...is your friend. Also check bicycling mags.

I finished the Keeling report. Need to digest it. It's pretty mind blowing, but I agree with a LOT of it.

Note to other DUers: that last was a a private aside. Please return to your regularly scheduled DU fun.
