Poll question: WORST NUMBER 1 HIT of the LATE 1970s? (Part 2)
Edited on Fri Feb-27-04 07:34 PM by NightTrain
Just how bad was the mass-appeal music of the late '70s? So bad, I'm going to have to create three--count 'em, THREE!--polls to cover all the #1 hits that deserve inclusion. And even at that, I may have to leave a few songs out.

Christ, no wonder punk happened!

1. Man they are all so horrible......
But I went with "You light up my Life". Such drivel.

5. God, me too
I didn't even look further than that one...something about the way she sings...and the lyrics...and it's like, a love song to Jesus or something....TOTALLY CREEPY. :scared:

Also, "Boogie Oogie Oogie" and "Hot Child in the City" both so totally remind me of wearing satin jogging shorts and roller skates and thinking I was like, THE hottest thing ever. At age 11. :D:D

2. Yeah, it's true that there were some horrible songs from the late 70's
but out of everything on your list, I would rather have to listen to all of these songs than a single effort by almost any "top-40" artist of today. The machine of mediocrity was merely rumbling to life back then. Nowadays it's in hyperdrive.

3. Neither the Meco song or Taste of honey suck.
I suggest you redo your poll.

6. Can't re-do the poll. "Boogie Oogie Oogie" already got a vote!

As for the Meco song, I must disagree about it not sucking. Sorry!

4. Light Up My Life is the worst song of all time, BUT I voted for Anne
Murray--what a bitch!

The song is awful--true, not as bad as the others--but there are too damn many people who think it's a good song. Besides, it won so many fucking grammys!

Sung in falsetto at the funeral for someone you detested when living.
