Never mind - she called. She is safe at the monent.
Driving through 3 feet of water? Yeah, ok. (She has a truck)

I have a friend who works near Barbers Point and lives in Waialua
I cannot contact her.

The weather radar looks really bad.

1. You can't contact her? I have heard no reports of outages
phone, power or the like; it was actually worse yesterday.

Try

http://www.thehawaiichannel.com

or

http://www.starbulletin.com/breaking

for any updates.

Here in town, obviously, everything is up and running. All the action today has been heavy rain; no thunder like yesterday.

Still and all, I'm beginning to wonder precisely why I left everything five time zones behind in order to come here...
