Disliking the overuse of infinite verbs in writing, I wonder if anyone else feels the same way?

Seriously, you wind up with some fucking illogical and anti-gravitational sentences:

Jumping down from the burning building and returning to her feet, she coolly lit a cigarette.
Firing the pistol and slapping him about the face, she left the room and drove into town.

Happily one can edit the post and try to distract attention from the first reply, which calls out one's being a complete failure as a person.

7. I've long thought the overuse of infinite verbs

makes a sentence look like a translation from German. Try reading them with a 'Werner Klemperer' accent.
