Ok Loungers, Got A Few Minutes To Give An Opinion? Somethin Exciting Goin On But I Lack Confidence.

Some of you likely have seen this video already when I posted it over a year ago on youtube. It is a video of me singing a song I wrote to my wife on our wedding day. I don't even sing in the shower so I do sound like a dying cow (trust me). It's the song and lyrics themselves I care about, not my singing since I know I can't sing to save my life.

Though I have never pursued anything with my music ever, months ago an incredible opportunity came my way because of a producer seeing it on youtube. Anyway, I can't really get into the specific details (not sure I'm allowed to), but basically at this very moment I have a two time grammy award winning 3 time nominated composer working on my song and recomposing it (I'm a simple keyboard player and my music is really simplistic. He will be making the song much more complex). After that, there is a good possibility that I will have a celebrity singing my song. I'm talking about Josh Grobin, John Meyer, etc. Not someone like them, literally possibly one of them. It's really exciting to me especially because of my wife's passing away last year and how much this song meant to her.

Problem is, this is all still beyond surreal to me. I like what I write musically, but it's always been just a personal "in the dark corner of the room" type thing for me. I never play in front of people, barely share my songs to anybody, and have never pursued anything. I enjoy my songs, but really have never felt them to really be all that good. So what I really appreciate if some of you would do for me, is to listen to the song and let me know your REAL opinion as to if if was recomposed and recorded by a real singer, could you see it really being a good song? I just have such low confidence in it, yet the reality is I have a grammy award winning composer working on it right now and the good possibility of a John Meyer or Josh Grobin singing it. Your opinions will mean a lot to me as to what you really think of the song or its potential.

Also, I very well may have my CHOICE of what celebrity I want to sing it. After you've listened to it, tell me your opinion on who you think the BEST singer would be to sing my song. It could be anybody!

Thanks everybody!

1. I absolutely love that song. It's beautiful. Stacey was so beautiful.

It's such a great song, I think literally anyone could sing it and it would be wonderful. My money is on TM, though. :hide:

How are you, my friend?

Hyper hyper hyper. God I envy their energy!

Gotta admit though; I'm totally not getting the 'my money is on TM though' remark. Maybe I'm slow today?

And thank you for the compliments.

12. Thank you, sir.
I am really proud of her. And, I miss her terribly. Whoever thought up the idea of going away to college was an asshole.

2. Ray LaMontagne ...
... if anyone can get to the soul of a set of lyrics & truly do a song justice, its him. :)

4. I can only hear Steve Perry singing this
Mostly because the music sounds so Journey-ish.

Though I could also hear Eddie Vedder doing it.

But if you want a more classically trained legitimate singer (and I have no idea who the fuck Josh Grobin or John Meyer are, so I have no idea what their musical style is or what their voices sound like), then perhaps Peter Gabriel or John Anderson or Greg Lake or Rick Davies.

7. I too, am no singer, so all I can say is, you've got some balls my friend!
My hat's off to you.
Love can make you brave.

The chord progression and melody are very nice, simple, and appropriate for a love song.
Unfortunately, it was difficult to hear the lyrics. Could you post them here?

As far as someone wanting to advance your song, I would advise you to be wary.
I hope this person is not charging you a fee for this. If they are, it's a scam and they have no intention of shopping your song.

You should also make sure that you retain the rights to the song. This is fairly easy to do and entails registering it with the U.S. Copyright Office.

Info here:

It's difficult to think of a heartfelt work of art in such business terms, but it will prevent others from taking advantage of you.

10. Hardest Thing I Ever Had To Do LOL. Lyrics Below. Also, This Is Totally Legit. Blows My Mind.
Can't get into the details, but it's totally on the up and up, they approached me, I don't have to do a thing or pay a thing, and the person who approached me called the song "Lightning in a bottle". I still can't get over this opportunity and hopefully in a few months I could talk more about it.

Here are the lyrics:

My Love, My Life, My Angel

There was a time I had such loneliness inside
And my whole world was only filled with pain
but then you came

To take me to a higher ground
Stole my heart without a sound
So beautiful, so magical,
so perfect all around

I can’t believe how much our love grows stronger everyday
And now each time I wake I ache for you
And you know I love ya more than words can ever say…
…now every day my heart, my mind, my soul cries out for you

Cause I know I’ll never let you go
And now I feel that true love is real
And now I see that you’re my destiny
Cause you are my love, my life, you’re my angel

Stacey, come into my arms tonight
You make my soul feel so alive
Your smile it brightens up my day
It brightens up my life

Cause when I look into your eyes
I can’t help feeling so hypnotized
I’ve never felt like this before
Now I’m so sure…

…that heaven must’ve sent you here to rescue me
Cause my whole life I’ve prayed I’d find someone like you
And you know that you’re my cruise ship on this sea of pain
I’ve always just been treading water, till through the fog you came

Now you and me together will be
Loving endlessly, and soon you will see
That our flame will be burning eternally
Cause you are my love, my life, you’re my angel.

Cause I know I’ll never let you go
And now I feel that true love is real
And now I see that you’re my destiny
Cause you are my love, my life, you’re my dream

Now you and me, forever will be
Loving perfectly and so passionately
Heaven knows that we are soulmates eternally
Cause you are my love, my life, you’re my angel
My sweet, sweet angel
You’re my beautiful angel
You’re my wife…

15. For some reason.....
I'm not picturing someone like Mayer or Grobin. I'm picturing someone with a less "polished" sound - someone whose voice is more raw, like he's just singing to the person who is the subject of the song, instead of the well-trained voice who's singing to a crowd of 10,000 at a concert hall. And this is the first person I thought of:

Your song is lovely.

16. What a lovely wedding. Glad your kids have video of the whole thing. And
you are right you cannot sing. I don't know music so cannot give you any advice in that department. Just glad you captured that momment on video.
