My Mother, the Republican |
|
She's not voting. She doesn't "mind" Obama. She thinks McCain is to old and Palin is, well, not up to it.
She worries that too many Democrats in the Congress will screw things up. So she's not voting.
My Republican Daughter-in-Law appears to be voting for Obama.
Current Family Score: 7 Obama, 2 McCain, 1 Abstention

are Republican. They are all voting for McCain - so far. There is a slim possibility that my son has gotten through to his grandma (my step-mom) and she might vote for Obama, though I wouldn't bet money on it. She actually contributed to W's campaigns in the past.
I know...the shame I feel is enormous.

Myself, the GWSH, my mother, father, step-mother, step-father and sister are all in the Obama camp. My 89 year old grandma in Ohio is voting Democratic for the first time, my SIL is Obama, my brother says he's voting for McCain but I think he's lying, and my fundie in-laws are McCain backers. So that brings us to: Obama/9, McCain/2, lying sack of shit who just wants to break his sisters heart/1

3. My Mother the Republican |
|
Until recently I was a Republican and remained so hoping that I and others like me could reform it. The 8 years of the Bush administration, the dirty campaign of the Republican Party, McCain campaign, and their surrogates contributed to my change. Although the more important influence was the birth of my two grandgals, now eight months old. You may call my politics progressive; I call it 'grandgals.' It became personal. It became more of consideration of conditions fifty years and more. I may become a Democrat. For a long time my first cousin said that I was not a doctrinaire Republican. I voted during the last election a straight Democratic ticket; I should have known then that I'm not a Republican.
I guess that if your politics is "granddaughters" you are a progressive.

There are probably lots of Republicans here like you. I have been telling my Republican friends that their party was stolen and they need to take it back. The first step is to vote Democratic.
There are people at DU who campaigned for Nixon and Goldwater.

politics came up. I had a good idea from previous conversations that he will be voting for Obama. He is (R) but today he admitted that he voted for the wrong person in '00 and '04... :D
