I think that she is a successful woman and that she happens to have given a lot to the Dems over the years is no accident in this being their flagship case. No conspiracy theory just a feeling. Her defense did mention Ashcroft in the opening arguments and how this was just a show trial. She did only MAKE $38,000 of the deal the prosecution is spending that much on dry cleaning and copying I'd bet.
