What did everyone think of "Big Fish"? |
|
I'm not a softie, but this flick made me cry. Damn, I still get misty eyed when I think of the end of the flick!
It may have been a tug-at-the-heartstrings flick, but damned if it wasn't effective!
Especially for those of us out there with father issues...

1. I was sobbing my eyes out...about the last 15 minutes. It made me |

think of my husband and his father. It is a very sweet movie. I totally agree with you on the issues part. :)

2. The ending was emotional |
|
and I thought it was a beautiful way to end it. I won't spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it yet.
The rest of the movie was a bit of a mixed bag. I felt it could've been better in some places and the plot could have used some working out.
I give it an 8 out of 10.

4. It drove Spalding Gray over the edge... |
|
I've been a fan of Spalding's for so long, and if it was enough to drive him to jump off the Staten Island Ferry (as seems to sadly be the case) I don't think I could handle it, partly because of the Spalding connection, and partly out of fear that I'd have the same susceptibility.
I hope I'm wrong, and that he turns up in some Paris love nest with the chick from Amelie. But he didn't take his wallet when he left the house...

I loved the mythical, larger than life character of it. I loved the father-son issues and the way it all played out at the end. I loved the way parts of it were shot. I thought it was creative, fun, poignant, funny, imaginative.

and I thought it was hokey and manipulative, and I still cried, but I was getting over breaking up with my girlfriend, so I think it was sort of a combined/comulative cry.
