Tomorrow is going to be EPIC!
5:45 a.m.: Get up. Put on head-to-toe blue ensemble.
6:00: Get kids up.
6:10: Breakfast: red, white, and blue fruit and yogurt parfaits.
6:30: Pile kids in car and drive to voting location.
6:35: Sit in car with kids until doors open.
VOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOTE!!!11!l

7:00/7:30-ish: Leave voting location, try not to cry the entire way home.
8:00: Bring kids to school. Try not to hit pedestrians due to voting-related adrenaline issues.
9:00: Go to classes.
10:00-5:00: Try not to get kicked out of classes. Avoid caffeine and distracting behavior, including tapping hands and feet and rocking around in chair, while waiting for breaks to check exit polling results. Remember that not everyone is as excited as me. Even though they should be. Freaks.
5:00: Go home. Make dinner: tacos and/or ham and American cheese "Obamelettes".
5:00- polls close: Pace around the house, periodically shrieking and running in place, to temper excitement.

Fifteen minutes before polls close: Make super nachos for viewing "party" -includes me and the kids- no one else will come over, because I am an "election psycho". Whatever. Check to see if spouse has locked himself in bedroom, yet. Review the "electoral college" with kids. Grab kleenex box, note pad, map, phone, and items that can safely be thrown against walls (just in case). Locate leftover fireworks from 4th of July, Go to the bathroom. Find effective scream-stifling pillow. Sit. Down. Sit down again. Sit. The hell. Down.

AUghhhH! I can not stand it. I am so excited!

1. I am leaving my house at 5:45 am
and calling Little MB to wake her up if I am not back by 6:15 - then hopefully I will have voted by 7:15 to get her to the babysitter before I go to work.

I will secretly be wearing my Obama Tshirt at work (under my sweater) and will flash my comrades when required.

I have yoga class at 7 pm, which I haven't decided whether I am going to or not....depends on the pundits I suppose.

Enjoy your day Lara!

:woohoo:

4. They have a sitter- I'm still at school, myself.
But if I weren't I could see that happening. I already can't calm down. My husband is going to be so irritated for the next 48 hours (at least!)

9. my husband is already so irritated with me
he just shakes his head when he looks at me and says "are you on that website again?!"

We were able to vote early, so at least that is out of the way! He took off on Sat so I could canvass and he could watch the kids. That was pretty nice of him.

11. Another election psycho!
I have 2 friends who DID want to hang with me, because they knew I'd be nuttier than they are!!! S.O., however, does NOT want to be around me, because he thinks my excitement is...unseemly.

6:15 roll out of bed, make coffee, make bagel
6:30 gently ask S.O. to get up "honey, it's election day - can you get up and help me set up?"
6:40 start poking my S.O. in the shoulder "get up!!! get up, get up, get up!"
6:45 drive 250 yards to my polling place, and get cranky S.O.'s help unloading tables, chairs, sample ballots, flyers for local elections, stuffed donkeys, supply bag, (stickers, pens, snacks, magazine, cell phone, blackberry)
6:47 S.O. goes home and goes back to bed
6:50 stick signs in the firehouse lawn, preferably in front of the Republican signs
6:55 go inside and watch the machines be set up
7:00 vote before the doors open (FINALLY!! A PAYOFF FOR VOLUNTEERING AT THE POLLS FOR 12 YEARS!!!!)
7:01 traipse back outside and start greeting voters "here's a list of Democrats on the ballot". Take turns with doofus Republican Committeeperson showing new voters the big sample ballot posted on the wall outside the firehouse, and explaining what will happen once they go inside.
11:00 home for lunch, see what polling places might need relief coverage
2:30 back to poll
8:00 close up poll, hope there's no line
8:15 - ??? Sit down with the election judge and the doofus Republican Committee person, count the absentee ballots, and get a copy of the computer-generated tallies
9:00+ Tape the computer-generated tallies to the door of the firehouse
9:00+ Call in tally numbers to the Area Chairperson
9:30 Call 2 girlfriends, and head over to local pub with S.O.
9:45+ Tachycardia, shaking, trying to calm the adrenalin.
1:00+ S.O. drags my drunk ass back home, where I watch a few more minutes of election coverage before crashing
