I haven't posted about this because GD P is already going batshit crazy.

But check this out: I live in a redneck-y area of NoVa. Not by choice, mind you. If you go five miles South West from here, you are about five miles in the middle of nowhere. I've driven out there - lots of McCain signs.

Anyhow, in front of the polling place, there's a D table, and an R table with a walk way of ten feet in between. The D's and R's are handing out sample ballot sheets to aid people in voting. Typical shit. The R table had a lot more of everything - stickers, banners, etc. AND they had alot more pink sample ballots. I talked to the nice lady holding the blue stack at the D table and apparently they're out selling by about 3 to 1.

As I was talking to her, the absolutely DESPERATE R lady came running over trying to push a pink sample ballot in my hand where I was already holding a blue one. I told her, no thanks. And then I went to vote. Everyone inside, mostly older white folk, had blue sample ballots in their hand.

Kind of spectacular even if it was only a snapshot of the day.

4. I'm in Northern Virginia

Just came home in a cab that's decorated inside with Obama bumper stickers, Obama pins, and, in the center of the glove box, a big "I Voted" sticker. The driver, from Ethiopia, was thrilled to have voted in his first Presidential election.

I ran into people today from Pakistan, Ethiopia, Sierra Leone, Venezuela, and the US. They all voted for Obama today. All colors, all ages, both genders, and you can feel the excitement, the spirit.

It's like we're united in a way I absolutely - not even after 9/11, not even after JFK's assassination, or any of the murders - have never experienced in this country before.

If Obama takes Virginia, and we get our votes tallied really fast, he wins it all.

I think he just might win here in Mr. Jefferson's Commonwealth.
