1. His supporters acted like rude boors
But his speech was very classy.

9. and he had the class to shut them up
unlike the actions of his running mate, who allowed shouts of racism during her rallys.

5. If the guy who gave the concession speech had run
instead of the rude obnoxious guy, it might have been closer.

But he didn't.

And it wasn't.

Decent speech.

10. I thought it was terrible.
It seemed to me he played the 'race card' and blamed his 'loss' squarely on AAs. That made me sick.

11. One speech doesn't make up for the vicious campaign he ran
He convinced his supporters that Obama was a Marxist American-hating terrorist and the Anti-Christ all rolled into one. Even today with the faux Castro endorsement robo-calls.

It's going to take more than one teleprompted speech to talk the freepers back from the edge.

It should begin with an apology.

It would have been a nice speech if his campaign itself had been run that way.

In reality, it was just way too hypocritical. Then again if I had to define the Puke party in one word, hypocritical would be it. So I wasn't expecting any thing different.

12. McCain can be a class act. His campaign, not so much.
John McCain is so much more than the terrible campaign he ran. It's kind of sad to see his career end on such a sour note.

15. Only when it was too late
Did he manage to show a modicum of class. He proved his scholarship of Teddy Roosevelt when he invoked the flak TR caught for inviting Booker T. Washington to the White House, as its first African American guest. But while McCain may have grasped what made TR a real 'maverick', he could never emulate it, and his considerable base weaknesses overcame any virtues he may yet contain beneath his corrupted visage.

That being said, it was pure joy watching a seething Toad Palin, and the barely-contained meltdown of the Would-Be Threat to Our Republic McCain shamefully foisted upon us.

16. I enjoyed Palin's pageant runner-up fixed smile.
Now she can go back to Alaska and plot secession again...

I'm sorry, Sarah; what was that phrase you used? Un-American? Hmmm...

21. He should have told Mr. and Mrs. Palin to stay in Alaska.
Their presence on the stage with him was a reminder of the utter mindlessness of the decision to choose her.

23. I never felt that visceral feeling of disgust when I listened to McCain...
... that I had from the very beginning with Bush.

I could never listen comfortably to Bush at all -- his words are like the putrid wind of every asshole I've ever had to deal with. Bush is a schoolyard bully, a nasty collection agent, an insurance adjuster denying a medical claim, a cell phone billing dispute line, a mean supervisor, a tyrannical egotistical yet incompetent surgeon, a vindictive whining coworker, a pompous ignorant incurious fool, a conniving untreated drug addict, and much much more... all rolled into one.

McCain is just a Republican.
