One post only (under my old nick) for old time's sake. Old timers (and new)--we did it! |
|
I'm still not over the theft of 2000, but tonight goes a long, long way in salving those wounds.
(it's me, Shakespeare)
For all my old friends: whyzayker, WilliamPitt, crewleader, khephra!, zen lefty, zombywoof, lynnesin, matcom, DS1, GOPisEvil and so many more....I can't believe we finally made it to this point!!
I love you guys!!!!

As long as I can find my way to Dudley's and the Chicken Oil Company, Los Nortenos over in Bryan, and maybe Ken Martin's Steakhouse, all will be fine.
CA is convinced I'm going to be dragging him into buttfuck hickville. I think he'll be fairly impressed with the campus.
I wonder if the Creamery is still open over on west campus? What I'd give for one of those malts... :9

including dpbrown, no name no slogan, dflprincess, ocelot, and former DUer katinmn, as well as newer participants jasonc and Spike, and it was a fantastic way to spend an Election Night.

Many tears of joy flowed tonight. I feel like we may yet save this republic of ours.
We called GOPisEvil tonight, who is now safely ensconced in his new home state of Washington. It is a great new era for us all.
We love you too! :loveya:

22. Yes I remember you posting under that moniker when I joined in 2002 |
|
Who would have thought it then? 2002 was a devastating year in many ways for us -what with the midterm elections, the 90% * ratings, and the countdown to war -and I remember the gloom, disillusionment and pessimism we all felt. I think I for one began to wonder whether we would ever see the resurgence of progressive, liberal, enlightened government. DU and the wonderful people here proved to be my one source of hope and optimism
I would have never imagined this night six years ago. It still feels surreal. But it is absolutely magical
Tonight I thank my friends, including you, who have been with me all the way these past eight years. And I think of the friends who are no longer with us tonight and who would have loved to see tonight. But their efforts helped lay foundations for victory today and I will never forget them and the role they played in changing my life for the better

25. First election I was old enough to vote in was 2000. |
|
I lived in FL at the time.
... long story short, my registration got fuxxored, and I didn't get it until 2 weeks after the deadline to turn it in. So I didn't get to vote.
The cynic in me wonders if it would have happened had I not checked the little 'Democrat' box when I was filling it out.
... however the first election I was able to vote in after I left Florida was the first time Florida went blue in the entire time I've been old enough to vote. Go fig. :P

34. I changed nicks several years ago for personal (stalker-y) reasons. |
|
I notified the admins of what I'd done (that I'd registered a new username for myself), and have never used the old nick (except for this OP) since. I have no intention of using it again after last night.

I thought you maybe you changed it after the last election (like when I and lots of others changed theirs). I understand, though, speaking as someone who has a stalking order against someone in real life! :scared:
