I am heartbroken over Prop 8
Talked to some people back home (I'm from California). I hate to say this, but no one was shocked. Apparently these assholes who propped this puppy up had organization like no other. Churches and civic organizations threw in together and had money and ground troops up and running from day 1. My best friend related to me that most No on Prop 8 material looked like it was put together by a three year old.

So what does this mean? I don't know. But we need to get organized. If last night proved anything, it's we need to beat these bastards at their own game. I can't wait to put my energy and money full force into the next fight for civil rights in CA and everywhere. It needs to happen.

And to our GBLT brothers and sisters, I'm sorry. Really fucking sorry. Don't give up hope. This, too, shall pass.

1. Same with Amendment 2 here in Florida.
Very disappointing. There's still a lot of change needed in this country.

But today I am happy and gonna focus on the positive!

2. Yeah
I think so too. It's hard not to feel down over it. Maybe because I've spent most of my life in San Diego. But you're right. After last night, anything is possible.

And I'm not a crier.

I still cannot believe this.

8. It's the organization
I hope this to be a shocking reminder that organization is the core building block to winning, regardless of message.

10. Not just organization in the Bay Area and liberal parts of Southern California
We need STATEWIDE organization.

I'm really annoyed by the lack of any presence up here in NorCal. :(

11. You got it
It's a given that the metro area's are already accepting. We need to get boots on the ground in the regions that are less tolerant. Take it to their backyard. The problem with us city folk is we forget that Bakersfield, Kern Valley, Visalia, etc are SO removed.

5. I am so disappointed.
I know the assholes who organize this kind of hate. I agree we need to get and be more organized, equal rights for all people. It is disgusting that we even have to fight for that.

9. I look at it as a temporary setback.
We've come a very long way in eight years, and we only have more support and more resources at our disposal than ever before. We should all take our time to mourn the loss in CA, but don't dwell on it. We will have equal rights for the GBLT community. If I can have faith in anything, it's that.

12. I'm in CA, and honestly, I'm surprised it passed.
Nauseated, to say the least.

If the haters have a stronghold left, at least we know about it now, and can work for equality.

13. I'm really surprised, and hurt.
To quote my elderly churchgoing neighbor "people can believe what they want, but they need to mind their own business and let other people be happy."

15. I just don't understand why this even has to be an issue. Let people MARRY!

As if hetero divorce is unheard-of, re: "sanctity of marriage".

16. The way I see it is this:
Marriage is indeed a union between a man and a woman SANCTIONED BY RELIGION. Therefore, marriage in itself being an act of worship, should be outlawed in keeping with the seperation of church and state. Civil unions should exist and be granted by states and marriages should be performed at your desired worshipping center. That way, pesky gays can't go around ruining the sanctity of what bigoted folks believe is so goddamned important and amazing.

Oh dear, there I go thinking again.
