2. Thank you.
Ann Richards. Of course.

Moment of silence...

And wondering what she'd say:

"Poor John..."

6. I'll add one name you won't recognize: Ben Trivelli.
He owned the company I used to work for, and God bless the cranky old son of a bitch, was the single most Liberal (with a capital L) person I've ever known. Although I quit my job at that company after working there for 11 years, we remained friends thereafter, and I always enjoyed going to lunch with him as we did now and again.

Hey, here was a man who, when the company needed a larger building, spent an EXTRA MILLION DOLLARS more than he needed to, because he wanted the company to be in the city, where many of the employees could take the bus to work - which they would not have been able to do if he had saved that million bucks by buying a factory building in the suburbs.

And here was a guy who had a TEACHER on staff, at the management level, with a classroom right next to the production floor. Every single employee of the company was eligible for classes in ESL, or to study for their GED, on COMPANY time. Continuing education, for ANY employee, no matter their rank in the hierarchy of the company, was paid for by the company.

Dammit, Ben, I wish you were alive to see this day. You'd have been happy.

Redstone

7. The African-Americans who made up a quarter of the Revolutionary army.
It wasn't in vain, gentlemen; it just took far too long. :patriot:
