I wish I could be happy today
But, it's official: I still live among bigots, and that knowledge is tearing at my gut.

I feel cheated of the joy that so many of you feel.

1. It was posted in a "proposition 8" thread that at least in CA
there are still votes being counted. Cross your fingers for that one, and hope that the others are overturned when we next vote.

2. Same here. I'm pissed.
If I catch the neighbor with the Yes on 8 sign outside it will go badly.

3. Well we are moving in the right direction. It may be slowly, but
it is happening. But bigots will always be out there unfortunately. We just have to keep fighting the fight.

9. I heard that sometime between 5 and 6 a.m.
About the challenges, that is. Nobody said anything about the uncounted ballots. That would explain the low numbers — like, less than 50 percent turnout in San Francisco, which is impossible to believe.

It could be four weeks before those are certified, because all the signatures have to be checked.

I shall hold out a glimmer of hope.

10. I just took mine down
The haters across the street still have theirs up. Displaying their ill-based righteousness, I assume.

7. Ya know, I managed (and lost) a local race

so it does make for an awfully bittersweet victory.

Just enjoy the mixture -- the sweet and the sour-- that is life.

11. Yes, it's not a happy day here either.
I'm ecstatic that at the national level we have the potential for reversing the Bush power grabs and human rights violations but the Prop. H8 win angers me. It shouldn't even have been a close contest.

15. I was happy and "teary" to see all the AA kids ecstatic on the tv
when victory was declared last night but that lasted for about an hour. today i don't even want to read the happy/gloating threads. I don't feel it anymore.I am actually kind of in a funk as if McCain had won. :(
