I, hereby, declare war on the word, "disparate."
Edited on Thu Nov-06-08 01:07 AM by Jamastiene
In order to hone my War on Christmas fighting skills, early, I, hereby, declare war on the word, "disparate."

I wish I could figure out how to delete the word, "disparate" from my Firefox dictionary. I know that word but I never use it. My main reason for wanting to delete it is laziness. I'll openly admit that when I misspell desperate, I get tired of my right click option to correct it being second on the list. I'm much much too lazy to scroll down a little.

I cannot, for the life of me, keep the spellings of the words "desperate" and "separate" straight in my head. I know one ends in "erate" and one ends in "arate." I simply don't care to remember which one is which.

It's hard enough to remember why I got up and went into the next room with the remote control to my tv tuner card in my hand or who knows what else in my hand. Our remote controls spend so much time in our refrigerator. I don't know why I keep putting them there, nor do I care. So, as you can plainly see, I can't be bothered to remember how to spell, "desperate" as I have serious issues with my short term memory right now. God help me is I ever start putting the remote controls in the microwave.

So, I, hereby, declare war on the word, "disparate" because it is getting in my damn way. I guess you can say, I'm desperate to get rid of it.

6. There was an excellent "Kids in the Hall" sketch about this - the word was "ascertain"
A factory worker had seized on this word G.W. Bush-style, and was driving everyone nuts with his constant use of "ascertain." Called on the carpet by his foreman, he is ordered to stop, and is given a list of three phrases to use at work. As he is leaving, the foreman uses the word "delineate," which dances in the worker's head as he exits whispering "delineate...delineate."
