Update on my dog
Original threat here:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=105x8217245

About the thread lock, I requested that because I had originally started it for a different topic, but changed course when I discovered the vandalism and the dog missing. I was a little flustered.

Fortunately I had the vet's home number and she agreed to open early this morning to see my dog. He did not puke all night as I feared he would. She checked him over and gave him some take home pills to settle his stomach. He's had nothing but liquids today and I'll give him some chicken noodle soup tonight.

I told my ex about the incident this morning and she said her new car had been keyed from front to rear because of some Obama signs she had in her window.

These fuckers are crazy and dangerous. Damned assholes!!

1. So, your dog will be ok? I hope?

What those people did was vandalism. I would report it to the police for sure.

Hope your doggie gets ok.

3. So glad he will be OK
Did the vet think that he had eaten something poisonous? Or maybe been fed something? Those who did this really are assholes, self-centered and stupid. I agree, taking anything out on a pet or child for that matter is cowardly and contemptible. Chicken soup sounds good.

I did want to say, maybe your dog can hear at different frequencies that is why I asked about a dog whistle. We had an old feral cat, he wouldn’t let me near him, we had him for about ten years and he slowly went deaf. He did start to talk to me and let me feed him without running 20 ft after awhile.

Anyway, one day the crazy dog up the street got out and his parents had a dog whistle, I swear the cat heard it and ran. I know you said your boy was deaf, I just wasn’t sure if you had his hearing checked out. Good luck and again, I am so glad you found him.

4. He ate an unknown quantity of something that made him sick.
But I can't swear it was poison.

He had surgery on his ears last year (bilateral oblations) that made him deaf. I could ask the vet about frequencies and see if she thinks he would hear a dog whistle. Thanks for the suggestion.

For the immediate future I am going out with him when he needs out.

6. He's doing great tonight. Slurped up some soup like he hadn't been fed in a week.
Thank God I have a cool vet, because I couldn't afford the cash down for an emergency visit.

She let me make payments because I have a 16 year reputation there for always paying the bills, so she knows I'm good for it.

Thanks! :hi:

16. We used to live next to a guy who wore "hitler was misunderstood"
tee shirts, and we always kept our dog under watch when he was outside.
It's sometimes a sad worls, but you sound like you know that already - just be alert and prepared.

I'm happy you dog is better - enthusiastic eating is always a good sign.

Take care.

7. Oh my god. Wait a minute, I missed the original post!
Someone poisoned your dog because you're an Obama supporter??!???

WHAT THE FUCK!! I know, I should be beyond being horrified about what these scumbags will stoop to, but every time, it's a punch in the gut. YUCK.

Thank the GODS your doggie's going to be OK. It sounds like it anyway, if he's eating and the vet cleared him to go home.

I have no words for how much I hate people like that.

13. Sorry I missed your message earlier.
I agree, fucking with my signs and trashing my yard is one thing. But don't fuck with my dog! That is fucking sick and depraved.

My ex told me today her car had been vandalized for having Obama stickers in her windows. Pretty damned sad. I don't recall shit like this happening when bush stole the previous 2 elections.

14. Un-fucking-believable.
My parents' car got keyed for having a Kerry sticker in SW VA in '04. They were pretty pissed. But it's still nothing like harming an innocent animal that has nothing to do with politics. That's the difference between us and them. Have you ever, ever heard anyone even voice the thought - Oh, my neighbor has a McCain sign, the bastard. I think I'll try to kill his pet?

NO, because WE DON'T THINK THAT WAY.

11. Not specifically, but I suspect it had to be a neighbor.
He barks and "pretends" he's really ferocious. But he is not mean at all, and just wants to kiss and lick people half to death. I always tell people that if I had a burglar in the house, I'd have to throw the dog at him for any protection at all, LOL!

On a few very rare occasions over the years, he has parked next to me or practically on top of me when someone raised their voice to me or acted in a threatening manner. (Both males) He growled at them and was fuckin' serious about it, and snapped at one who tried to reach toward me in anger.

Anyways, he's fine tonight, and acting like a pup again. :D
