After this week, I have enormous respect for Paddy!

Because of his surgery, he's not able to unload and sort the bundles of newspapers delivered to his shop every morning at 4:00 a.m., so I've taken over the job until he's able to resume. Getting up at 3:00 a.m. 6 days a week, lifting heavy stuff in the cold and dark morning, etc., is both physically hard and mind-numbing. Nonetheless, you have to use your brain to do it correctly, even when your body wants to be back in a warm, soft bed.

Cuban_Liberal, it sounds like you had respect for Paddy before...but you have even more for the hard work that Paddy does.

Respect is enormously important in a relationship, I think. Both of you have to respect each other. And that, happily, is the case in your relationship.

I like the fact that you guys are regulars here. It's nice to hear the details of a very happy, loving relationship.

You guys have a match made in heaven. I can only hope for many more decades of happiness for the two of you!

I agree with you about respect being important to any successful relationship. he and I had both been involved in enough 'bad' relationships to have a clear idea of what we DIDN'T want to do again, and each of us were looking at 'mates' with a different focus than we had previously: we both wanted someone intelligent, hard-working, goal-oriented, etc. . Fortunately for us, a mutual friend knew we were both looking and also knew what/who we were looking for, and she set us up. From there, we took it on our own.

April 7th will mark 2 of the happiest years of my adult life, and that start of many more to come, God willing.
