Do olives count as a vegetable?
If not, I may need to add to my dinner menu.

1. They aren't animals or minerals, so I suppose they have to be vegetables.

6. I'm not a botanist
but if I remember the fight/argument about tomatoes correctly, it has to do with where the seeds are. If they are inside of the edible portion, then it's a fruit. If they are in the flowering part of the plant, then it's a vegetable. There's still plenty of "gray area" even in this, too.

Botanic fruit and culinary fruit
Is it a fruit or a vegetable?

8. No
Olives are multi-personality stick figured women who enjoy stringing along sailors who have been away at sea far too long...

22. Olives are fruit.
They are very high in sodium, but contain good and varied nutrition.

The sodium is due to the way olives are processed.

23. I love green olives, stuffed with almonds
and marinated in herbs and garlic. Yummy. We get some of the best ones here at the markets on Fridays, from the Italians and the Turkish folks. :D

I never really gave it much thought as to whether they were a veg or fruit until I read your question.
