Poll question: Gents (or ladies who buy for gents): Best online/catalog outfit for men's clothes?
A year ago, as I tend to mention every five minutes, I quit gluten and immediately lost 30 lbs and 4 inches in the waist. Freaked me out no end (but in the good way); I didn't know if I'd keep losing weight, gain it right back, or what. However, it's been a year and I seem to be stable. Moreover, the only 36" waist trousers I had are falling apart and I'm getting tired of the kitten trying to eat the fraying threads. (Note: don't try to wear the same trousers every day for a year.) Hit the stores and found that now that I'm at the average American height and weight, more or less, nobody has trousers that fit me. I'm mainly a thrift store boy from way, way back, but they aren't helping out this time either. Soooo, I think I have to go the online route. Any thoughts? "Other" suggestions will be very warmly received, except maybe Sansabelt (though I'm rapidly getting up into their target age group:)).

Oh, I'm just talking about plain, boring khakis, or chinos if you prefer.

1. My dear undisclosedlocation!
Congrats on your weight loss!

I voted for Lands' End...good value for money, and the clothes are sturdily made. I normally get their catalogs...

And my husband likes their clothes...

:hi:

2. Thanks. The ones I wore into the ground were Lands' End, though via thrift store
On my first visit to their site, I couldn't find any button-front chinos and was highly annoyed, but on a second visit I think I found them. A little higher than thrift store prices though, but what can ya do?:)

Alice is very jealous of the weight loss, but not enough so to try going gluten free...

3. Check out the link to "other" Great buys if they have what you
need at the moment. Sierra Trading Post. Good goods, good reputation.

Not much showing up in our neck of the woods in the "thrifts" either unless you are timy or larger than the average citizen. Shows you we are all cutting back. Wearing out the clothes, not replacing as often.

8. They didn't have anything I liked today, but I'll keep them in mind. Thanks!
I never had much success at thrift stores without returning several times over a week or two-week period. Also our best thrift store shut down years ago, so I'm left with Goodwill. A good outfit, mind you, but the stores here don't have the best selection.

4. Another "other" - there is a strange outfit online that has varied men's clothing,
some of which is quite good quality for little money. I bought several items there, including shoes and boots over about 10 years, and have had few problems. Try: www.sportsmansguide.com just search for what you want.

They have a lot of goofy stuff, and some surplus military items including clothing as well as standard clothes.

16. The site changes all the time - they have a number of paper catalogs
you can order online specializing in clothing, etc.
They have some great deals on shoes and boots.
It's usually fun to read.

Enjoy your search.

5. IMHO, Lands' End is the best value of those you listed, and they have VERY good customer service.
They will hem the pants to the inseam length you need, cuffed or uncuffed.
Eddie Bauer's prices seem to have climbed a LOT in the past few years. LL Bean's prices are more reasonable, but not as good as Lands' End.

Have you checked out places like TJ Maxx, Marshall's and Ross Dress for Less (even though your size is a common one)? I frequently find nice name-brand stuff for hubby at those stores, and at VERY good prices. He wears a 36 as well, and I've bought quite a few pairs of basic chinos/khakis in basic colors for him at those stores. I also got some *great* buys on polo shirts and shirts, and have bought dress shirts at these places in the past. Penney's has very good clearance prices, when things get marked down by 75% or more.

Also, did you know that Sears carries some Lands' End merchandise in their stores, and it sometimes goes on sale? They had very good clearance prices on chinos a few years back, and I bought every pair I could get my hands on.

10. Thanks. I used to go to Ross a lot with my gf; didn't notice the men's clothes
but as it's quite convenient, I'll definitely go back and check again. Should go check out Sears again as they're convenient to my dad's house, and I need to visit him more anyway.

12. Thanks, it was a surprise. I wasn't trying to lose weight;
just wanted not to wake up with the runs at 5 in the morning. Fixed that, anxiety disorders went away, and I'm back down to my single original chin. What a deal!:)
