Today's College Football Thread
A pretty good slate of games again today, with 5 games between ranked teams. The best of the morning games are No. 11 Ohio State at No. 24 Northwestern and No. 20 Georgia Tech at No. 19 Carolina.

The highlight of the afternoon games is No. 1 Alabama at No. 16 LSU, but there are a couple of other games with a lot on the line, including No. 5 Florida playing at Vanderbilt (who had their best start in 60 years but have since dropped three straight games) and No. 6 Oklahoma playing at Texas A&M (the Aggies had a rough start to the year but have been playing better, and are always tough at home). Also, No. 3 Penn State plays at Iowa.

The night games include No. 8 Oklahoma State at No. 2 Texas Tech and No. 21 California at No. 7 USC.

So what games are you looking forward to today?

I think we should have a conference for those schools that suck 80% of the time:

Baylor
Vandy
Tulane
Temple
Northwestern

Good oogly-boogley. LOL.

Nice.

You know, in an unrelated matter, Jim Mora once said: "You think you know, but you don't know. And you never will."

That is college football.

Of course, I KNEW that the Minnesota Gophers were not as good as their record. But never figured on 29-6
AT HOME to the not-as-bad-as-their-record Michigan Wolverines.

Of course this has me concerned about Oregon State v. UCLA. O-state is favored, but:

Coach Riley has never beaten UCLA.
It's in Pasadena.
UCLA is Jekyll/Hyde: can be good, can suck 59-0 v. BYU.
Other quarterback starting for OSU.

21. I'm watching Alabama-LSU. Got a question.
After one of Alabama's players was tackled he got up and put thumb to ear and little finger to mouth as if miming a telephone.
This got him an unsportsmanlike conduct call.
The announcers said something about celphone and tivo and I didn't get it at all.

and a georgia player did too. of course neither of them got called on it, only parker wilson. it was stupid and i think the "unsportsmanlike conduct" calls are usually stupid.. but he should haven't done it and he knows better.

hopefully saban will knock some sense into them in the locker room. this is a stressful game, but the LSU game always is. x(

28. OK, I found the story:
But I sure as hell don't see how this is unsportsmanlike conduct on the part of Parker.
:wtf:

ORLANDO, Fla. -- LSU fans somehow got hold of Florida quarterback Tim Tebow's cell phone number leading up to last Saturday's 28-24 loss to the Tigers and the calls became so bad that he had to turn the problem over to someone else.

"His friends took his cell phone and the calls and messages would come in faster than they could erase them,'' said Tebow's father, Bob. "How many messages can you erase in a minute? They came in faster than that.''

Tebow called the ordeal "an interesting experience, just handling it all," Local 6 News partner Florida Today reported.

But he said it was not too much.

After scoring a touchdown in Baton Rouge, Tebow put his hand to his helmet and taunted the crowd, as if to say, "Call me now.'' He said it was all in good fun.

"They were having fun with me, so I was having fun with them, too,'' he said. "It's what college football is all about. It's just fun, and I had fun with it. I know it probably got under their skin a little bit.''

Asked what the messages from the fans said, he replied, "I don't use that type of language too much, so I can't tell you. Some people did take it way too far, farther than you should take it with sports. But I think for the most part people were just having fun.''

Some of the calls included threats.

"There was some stuff like that, but I didn't worry about it or think about it,'' Tebow said. "I didn't even think it was that big of a deal.''

Florida coach Urban Meyer talked to a campus police officer about the calls and said he was worried about his quarterback's safety.

"It's easy to just get rid of your phone,'' Meyer said. "I told Tim, 'Just dump it and get another one.' And he changed his number and all that.''

The calls started early in the week and never stopped.

I guess I have to do the unthinkable and root for Michigan to pull of a miracle next week along side us and beat OSU. Now even if we win next week at Penn State, we don't go to the Rose Bowl if OSU wins since they beat us head-to-head.

Iowa is way better than their record. They played us extremely tough in East Lansing. Hard hitting smash mouth team.

69. I'm afraid you're right ...

Sadly enough, I'm sitting here watching OSU for the first time this season ... well, a whole game anyway ... and I see their weaknesses on offense, but I'm not sure OU is going to be able to exploit them.

Unfortunately, their weaknesses on offense seem to coincide with OU's weaknesses on defense, so that may be a wash.

Depending partly on how beat up they get against Tech, they could conceivably lose their final two games.
