Anyone watch Dr. Drew's Celebrity Rehab 2? |
|
I admit it....I love me some Dr Drew and frankly I get all misty-eyed watching these people come together and support each other through their addictions and recovery
However, I have had one evil thought.... I wanna see Gary Busey and Jeff Conway get into a fight (sorry its so wrong but they are both so messed up)

5. Conway was on the 1st, not Busey |
|
Conway left due to needing to be on Rx pain killers for a surgery and Drew talked him into coming back to finish the progress he had made on his recovery
His girlfriend Vicki is there this time as well (which is good for her) and in a separate wing of the clinic off camera.
I had no idea Busey had so much brain damage, not sure why he is there either... Dr. Drew talked about how his addictive behavior led to the accident that caused the injury

6. But her story on her how she got her name Tawny was really touching |
|
I went through a lot of moves and stuff and wanted to be someone else when I was that age too so I totally related
good lord I just reread that sentence and clearly I have watched too much reality tv... I am channeling some Palin talk.
What I meant is, when I was an adolescent, my mom had been married and divorced a couple of times, we were on welfare, we had to move around the country, and I had a hard time adjusting to each new environment. There were times I too, wanted to change my name and start over - be a completely different person.
Much better.

(just not a big TV watcher) - what's the story of her name?
I was a GI brat and moved 13 times before attending the first of three high schools :)

8. Her folks had divorced and |
|
she went from living in a nice area to a poor one, they had to go on welfare when she was 11 or 12. She felt embarrassed and ashamed, and on her first day of school at her new school she just told everyone her name was Tawny (some kid on her street was named that and she liked it) and that is who she became. I know that it doesn't sound like such a big deal, but man I remember going through the same thing. The stigma of welfare in the 70's was soooo bad because everyone knew - your food from the food shelf was stamped Donated, instead of EBT cards like they have now, those horrible food stamps, the cashiers always looked at you like you were scum. And at that age, everything was soooo embarrasing and awful. I am sure there is more to the story...but I guess I identified with her.
Her real name is Julie.

10. So who is more incoherent? Jeff Conaway or Steven Adler? |
|
I just about shit when Steve said Jeff was his idol. That's taking hero worship a bit too far, turning into a drug addled zombie.
And Busey.... Yeah, I think when he had that little bike accident without a helmet, he did more damage than anybody realized at the time. That's something way beyond drugs with him.

|
I am surprised he is alive frankly and has a desire to rehab

12. I don't know what to do with Busey. |
|
As Dr. Drew explained, the brain injury Busey received in the motorcycle wreck has pretty much messed him up for good, in addition to his addictions.
But what I still can't figure out is under what pretense they got him to come to the clinic. Why is he still laboring under the delusion that he is part of the staff?
I liked the way the others called him out at the group meeting, especially Steven Adler.
(A few weeks back on VH1 Classic they had an absolutely excellent retrospective on the history of rock music. The narrator was a lucid Gary Busey. How very, very sad to see what he is today.)

13. No porn star this time? I admit I liked the first one better... |
|
just because it seemed a little more honest. Conaway was the down part of that one, and adding Busey this time makes it worse. Methinks he's the Baldwin this time and will bail before long.
Both of them are in sad shape, and a large part of rehab is to give you a new future. These two have no future, or at least none that has been identified so far. They are presented as pretty much broken beyond repair, and are given no alternatives beyond getting straight for its own sake. Like that's gonna work.
(Yeah, Busey has always been an obnoxious asshole so part of me wouldn't mind seeing him get his ass kicked, but not now with the brain damage being so severe.)

15. I watch it. Rodney King said some stuff that got me last week. |
|
He was reliving the beating with the other people and he was talking about how there was a gay protest going on (couldn't tell if he meant right after the beating or the trial) and how they flipped their cause to protest on his behalf. He said how touched he was by it and what great people they are... that they "add color to the world". :)

And caught one episode of the new season the other day. I was disappointed to see Jeff and his girlfriend there. They seem to get off on causing as much distractions as possible.
