11 hours at Knott's Berry Farm and all I got was this lousy photo-thread. (Now with Puerco-cam)

My daughter had a recent birthday and today was the day we took her and a couple of friends to Knott's Berry Farm, which is an amusement park here in southern California. Please check out the video linked at the bottom.

Ali and me

Me and Blaise getting hauled up the "Sidewinder", a roller coaster with cabs that spin. Her friends are in the front of the cab as we approach the drop.

After the ride waiting to off load

A shot of the "Boomerang" speeding by.

This tower is called the "Supreme Scream". If you look closely at the the upper part of the right leg you will see people in an open circular ring 250 feet in the air. A moment later compressed air shoots them down and then the riders bounce a couple of times before the ride settles down to earth. I will try to post the link of a video of me and Ali's second ride.

4. It was fun.
Of the 11 hours spent there at least 6-7 was spent in line. My leg muscles are still a little tight from the constant standing. The waiting did not phase the kids one bit.

5. Did you watch the video?
We go on the "Scream" several times a visit. This was the first time I thought to video us on a ride.

3. I used to go to Knott's all the time when I was a kid --
I grew up in Orange County / San Bernardino County and have two sisters who are 10 and 12 years older than I am -- so almost every weekend they got the car, I'd get tossed in the back seat and off we'd go. I always liked Knott's --

Looks like you had a lot of fun! Your daughter is darling!

6. We grew up nearby Orange County.
During Grade School we lived just over the hills in Hacienda Heights, and in High School I live 5 miles up Beach Blvd in La Harbra. I watched Knotts transform from a country fair, old west like attraction, to a full blown amusement park. We only went to Knotts once maybe twice a year, the big family outing was Disneyland, the former, back in the days of the "E" tickets.

7. E tickets! I remember those!
Disneyland was always on the agenda, too, but I kinda liked the old-timey feel of Knott's when I was younger. Not quite so overwhelming as Disneyland.

I grew up in San Juan Capistrano / San Clemente and then (horrors!) my parents moved inland to Redlands. I was a kid in the 70's and my sisters were in high school; I was CONVINCED they personally knew the Beach Boys and that the song "Little Surfer Girl" was about me.

Sigh. I'm going to cry. Happy times.

8. It looks like it was a perfect day.
A day at the amusement park always leaves you lung-tired and breathless, even if you don't go on all the rides. Looks like you did, though.

Thanks for the pictures. (Going now to check out the vid.)

"So, I guess that's downtown Long Beach over there?"

"Shut up! Shut up!"

10. great photos!
I loved Knott's Berry Farm when I was a kid (I grew up in O.C.-Huntington Beach).

What I LOVED though, was Knott's Scary Farm...my friends and I would go every year. Does Knott's still do that??

Oh - and we'd always have a fried chicken dinner at the restaurant :9

11. They still have Knotts Scary Farm, every year.
I have not gone in 5-6 years but it seems to get better every year.
