i feel like banging my head against a wall...never thought my friend would say things like this

i took exception to a comment a friend made about gay marriage being necessary so gays have the motivation to stay in long-term, monogamous relationships. i told him that such statements only perpetuate the stereotype of the promiscuous gay man, but he told me it's a fact that gay men are more promiscuous.

his basis is statistics from a book published in 1984 (The Male Couple: How Relationships Develop) and a few stats from the dsm-iv. furthermore, he said we need to stop looking at this through the 'blinders of political correctness' so we can stop the problem of 'rampant' disease in the gay population and that his statements are not made out of bias or bigotry, but a real desire to help the gay community.
