6. I can't do the fucking math!
Perhaps you can help me

A rich merchant had collected many gold coins. He did not want anybody to know about them. One day, his wife asked, "How many gold coins do we have?"

After pausing a moment, he replied, "Well! If I divide the coins into two unequal numbers, then 48 times the difference between the two numbers equals the difference between the squares of the two numbers."

The wife looked puzzled. Can you help the merchant's wife by finding out how many gold coins they have?

Hint: a2 − b2 = (a + b)(a − b)

7. 48. My turn.
Consider the two decays

1) delta-nought -> p + pi-minus
2) delta-nought -> n + pi-zero

Using Clebsch-Gordan co-efficients, predict the relative rates of decay of the two particles.

Hint: Here are the particle's total and projection strong isospin vectors.

Particle, (I, Iz)

delta-nought, (3/2,-1/2)
p, (1/2,1/2)
pi-minus, (1,-1)
n, (1/2, -1/2)
pi-zero, (1,0)

:)

(Yes, that was an exam question I was asked a few hours ago) :)

10. I'm sorry
"Your Google search - Consider two decays delta-nought -> p + pi-minus delta-nought -> n + pi-zero Clebsch-Gordan co-efficients predict relative rates decay two particles total projection strong isospin vectors I Iz delta-nought pi pi-minus pi-zero - did not match any documents."

Well it looks like I can't help you, mate! Still can't do the math, or I guess physics either. Damn liberal arts education!

14. Huh, it's more a matter of knowing where to look.
In this case, you look at a table and say "oh, that entry" and you're basically done.

Of course, you only know the damn table exists if you happen to know about what is going on there, but who cares? Obama was elected, let's party!
