I think my cat is lonely.
I just walked into the kitchen and caught her staring at her reflection in the oven door. When I said "Hello, Kitty" she jumped a foot and then tried to look nonchalant. Whaddya think, time for another kitty soon?

7. I think she misses Minnie.
They fought like cats and cats while she was alive, but she's been odd since. When I walked back into the apartment after taking her away, Amber stared at me, then stared out the door for a while. I think she was hoping Minnie was coming back somehow. Now she's going crazy tearing around the apartment, and she's a lot more clingy than before. Poor kitty.

8. Absolutely she is missing Minnie. No doubt in my mind.

There will never be another Minnie, she was amazing. But now there is room in a forever home for another little lost soul. I think Minnie would approve.

9. Minnie would NOT approve.
She was a jealous cat who hated sharing me with anyone or anything. When I would sit on the couch with my children, she would climb between us. When I first got Amber, she would chase Amber off the bed or couch if she got too close to me. Every time a new kitten came into her house, she would terrorize the kitten, not seeming to understand that when kittens grew up, they would get revenge.

I imagine even now she is haunting the apartment, looking for ways to claim me for her own. Come to think of it, I keep hearing thumping noises in my kitchen. Minnie used to climb into the cabinets, and every time I hear that noise I think without thinking it "that's Minnie getting in the cabinets." I was thinking it was just something in the apartment next door, now I wonder... That cat was one of a kind, in wonderful and annoying ways.

Oh well. A poltergeist Minnie won't bother another kittie much. :)

14. Well,

I was hoping perhaps Minnie has reached a transcendental plane of grace and forgiveness. Maybe not though. ;) Then again, as you said, it will be more of something for the new kitten to deal with than for you.

15. Gosh, I hope not.
That annoying neediness was what made her Minnie. It was her own special Minnie-ness. That's what the kids and I smile about when we talk about her now. It's been said often, but the thing that annoys you most about someone is what you miss the most about them. :)

6. It's an unknown fact:
Cats just like to look at themselves in the mirror... or any reflection.

You heard it here first! :hi:

10. I wonder if they are sitting there going:
"Huh. So that's what I look like. I'm pretty damn good looking." Are cats narcissists?

13. Awwww, I vote yes.
If you've got the space, get thee to a shelter and get her a playmate and another deserving kitty a forever home.

Just my humble opinion. :D
