20. Writing and defending a dissertation is brutal

Mine went on for close to a year. It was 10 years ago, and I still cringe when I think about it.

Sometimes i just pause and think back on it... all the field work i did, then all the lab work, then all the analyzing and writing... I had no idea what i was getting into! :rofl:

I did a study looking at factors concerning the intermediate host of proliferative gill disease in channel catfish. I found ways to control the oligochaete that is the intermediate host chemically, and using wetland water treatment systems, and did a comprehensive study of invertebrate populations in new catfish ponds over a year.

I don't know much about parasitology, except for a bit about the trematode that's been implicated in a bunch of the amphibian malformations. Pretty nasty little buggers. Were you looking at the impact of the chemical on the inverts? Did it affect them?
