Poll question: What should be our new national anthem?
I'm proposing this because "The Star-Spangled Banner" is a pain to learn, and besides, who wants war as our national identity?

4. "America the Beautiful"
"The Star Spangled Banner" is overtly militaristic and impossible for most folks to sing. It's also based on an old English drinking song, so it's not even original. I haven't a clue as to why this piece of tripe was chosen for our national anthem, but it's not the first or last time our elected officials suffered a serious lapse of good taste.

8. When my mom bought her house
I got her this kitchy little wooden piece of Americana for the front door.

It's a 4x10 piece of wood, with three wooden hearts hanging beneath it. It's got a little painted farmhouse, rolling hills, stars, stripes, and the words "this land is your land this land is my land."

My mom "got" it, and she thinks it's great. :D

7. I've always been partial to "Chester"
which was a tune considered early on. Easier to sing, too
