17. Me too!
(and I hit "reply" before I saw who it was that had posted)

"Pirates Dream" (sunken chest)
Ironing Board, etc.

It didn't help that I weighed 112 and was almost 6' tall in a day before "Supermodels" and ANTM and the fetishization of tall and skinny.

Didn't get boobs until I went on the pill in college.

73. Interesting
Grew from 5'7" to 6'1", got boobs, and was about 115 lbs. All in 3 mos! 14!

Bringing sexy back!!!

It was awful. I was taller than all the guys. Looked like I had been in a closet for the last 10 years, and no one fed me.

Filled out nicely, and never want to go through that again!!

and a D cup by 6th grade when all the rest of the girls were still in training bras. I felt like a circus freak and always wore baggy clothes because even (especially?) older men would leer at me. It was really creepy.

49. one more for boobs.
my 15 yo has recently inherited the family chest. she is up to a DD. she has had some of the biggest boobs in the class for a long time, but is otherwise skinny as a rail. sigh. that was me, too. i really, really feel her pain.
my niece one time chided her mother about her failure to have and pass down this family gift, and i assured her they never really brought me anything that i wanted.
until i met my hubby, that is.

69. I hear ya!
I used to envy those girls with flat chests,. They could actually buy dresses, and not have to wear a size 16 top and size 8 skirt. Now the rest of me has caught up, and I'm an 18 all over, but in junior high, it was hell. And the completely unwanted attention from the boys and even some of the teachers? I dreaded going to school. These days they call it sexual harassment and do their best to stop it, but back then it was assumed the girl had done something to cause it, and it was laughed off. It also didn't help that the popular stereotype was that girls with large chests were dim, and the flat chested were smart.

Why on earth some women pay to have their breasts enlarged is beyond me. Big boobs are a pain in the neck...and shoulders and back.

figured we had been hauling these things around for a couple of million years without scaffolding, what the hell. sometimes i feel a little conspicuous, but i figure that hoisting them up and sticking them out isn't gonna improve that. there are some more interesting winches on the market these days, but forking over $50 per just to give myself a back ache is just not gonna work for me. fuck it.

I sang real good before puberty hit. Was even part of the school choir selected to sing in the Royal Albert Hall.

Then my voice broke.

My last public singing performance was as the hippo when singing "mud, mud, glorious mud..." at a local church.

My voice just doesn't have any real range to it anymore.

Mark.

25. I was exceedingly lucky during puberty.
No acne. Well, the one-off pimple, but not real acne.

Honestly, I think that beginning my regime of pumping iron by the age of 12 put better use to my growing levels of testosterone than my pre-puberty body was ready for.

One more thing I may owe to the weight rack.

From age 12 to 20 sucked. Bad thing was my mom thought those were the best years in her life, and she never recognize my angst. She and my dad were both very popular in high school. In fact, she still has a monthly meeting with people from her graduating class.

Whereas, I try to get away from those years as much as I can, they were meaningless at best, and extremely painful at most. My parents pressured me, I wasn't outgoing enough, etc., yet I tend to this day be a loner type, and happily so.

But my mom, she calls me, and she's like "Can you remember so-and-so that you went to school with, well I saw/spoke with them the other day?" And I'm "no, I don't remember so-and-so." However, she doesn't get it, because she relives her high school days every day. They were the happiest days in her life for her. From 1960 (when I was born) to 2004, were the unhappiest years for her, she wasn't in her hometown group and she was very insecure. In 2004, my parents moved back to my mom's hometowns, and my dad's hometown is 30 minutes away. I'm very happy for them now, and I'm particularly glad for her.

We worry about taking care of her and my dad in their later years, however, we do not want to live where they're living now, my mom's hometown and where she went to high school and where she subsequently met my dad...but they're pressuring us to move to their town.

So at 47, I still feel like I'm going through puberty.

What do you do?
Edited for clarification.

30. Puberty was kind of good for me.
I was a slightly chubby, nerdy little girl. I've always had a good complexion (an occasional zit but nothing major) and once those hormones kicked in, my little chub turned into nice curves. Seriously, I was a bit awkward in middle school (braces, etc.), but by the time I was 14 or so, I was a cute little chickie.

The feeling of being different from everyone else, of not having a real sense of belonging hit me hard. Throwing sex into all of it made things all the more confusing. I was wondering what is this sex stuff all about and who's doing it? I can't even begin to think of those who view this time as the best time of their lives and have to relive it. I was most grateful to have moved beyond it.

76. Oh, and that too
I used to go to the girl's bathroom during class, and smoke, which actually helped a little. No one bothered me, because who goes to the bathroom to smoke alone?

Ended up on the pill after a stay in the college health center due to uncontrollable vomiting from the cramps....

Good times, good times

68. Acne
Edited on Tue Nov-11-08 06:02 PM by Rob H.
I went on Accutane when I was in 10th grade and that took care of it, but I have some pretty bad scarring on the back of my neck. There's a scar about an inch below the base of my skull that looks like a burn because the dermatologist got overzealous with the dosage when he injected a big pimple there with some sort of antiseptic and it essentially burned off from the inside out. Idiot. :grr:

72. Cramps. Acne. Bein' Butt-Ugly
Frizzy hair. No nice clothes to wear, no clue about dressing 'cool' anyway. So shy I'd have anxiety attacks at school every day. A's in band and F's in math, I would have done better home schooling myself, and really wanted to.

Worst years of my life. Yes, it did get better after that ; )
