Since I'm gay I guess I can't have the purest form of "bromance" although it could happen between me and another guy. By "bromance" I mean that kind of close, affectionate, loving relationship between 2 men, who are otherwise heterosexual, and the relationship has no sexual overtones at all. One example is between Turk and J.D. on "Scrubs," and they even did a song about it "Guy Love." If you're a heterosexual man, have you ever had this happen between you and another hetero man? Almost like being lovers, very physically close and intimate, but not sexual at all.

Not being a guy, I can't have had this...
But...
There have been women I know who I feel very close to, intimate with, but it's not sexual at all...
I feel as though I've known them forever, and we share many of the same ideas, hopes, dreams, and etc...

As a gay woman I've had several close and intimate relationships and freindship with other women, straight and gay, that carried no sexual tension or overtones.
I do think society is a lot harsher on gay men than gay women though.

He's my best friend, and sang at my wedding. Here we both are with the soon-to-be Mrs. Aristus at our rehearsal dinner:

6. I've had that with both men and women |

the part that really matters is just that there's no sexual interest or tension whatsoever. And gender/orientation is no boundary for that.

14. When I think about my set of friends, you're totally right |

Among my straight male friends, the one that I have the almost "bromance" type friendship with is the one that I couldn't imagine having a sexual relationship with at all. Totally unattractive to me. With the others I might feel a sexual attraction to, in varying degrees, but I don't do anything about it because they're heterosexual. But the one that would be my last choice in the world for a sexual relationship - that's the guy I almost have a "bromance" with. At least he always wants to hug me and be up close to me and I oblige him, and it's kind of fun, the energy exchange. I also had a straight friend for about 3 years (well at least he says he is, but I heard first-hand gossip about him). He and I never had a sexual relationship whatsoever, but it was amazingly close with lots of contact - always wrestling and stuff, sitting right next to each other, towards the end hugging a lot (but not kissing). He was just basking in it, and it was fun. But it never became sexual in those 3 years. He might have secretly wanted it to, and I wouldn't have stopped it, if it had, but it was just like being boyfriends, without the sex part. Weird.

Is it like, when you're nice to someone...and then he buys you things?
