1. yes he is!
I especially liked the slide guitar song...just love that sound!

Here's version of Shady Grove I'm more familiar with, with visuals from Yellow Submarine...

3. Wow!
That's quite different...
I like it. :D

Here's the first version I heard of the tune: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U8wR4GZGnZE
I've always loved Jean Ritchie's pure voice...

6. I like that version too!
The Quicksilver version I posted was my first exposure to the song, I didn't know it was a traditional tune. You can hear the similarities between American and British folk music in her version, it sounds reminiscent of the song "Matty Groves" that Sandy Denny sang with Fairport Convention.

And also, I'm sure you've seen it already but here is a version from The Andy Griffith Show. The band is the Dillards, I just wish they played longer!

15. Ever hear of Sally Rogers?
She does a great version of Matty Groves. She's got one of those versatile voices that is gutsy one minute and sweet the next.

20. Yep! And Emory Grove too.
For some reason this area between Gaithersburg and Rockville has a number of places with the name Grove in them. Washington Grove used to be a summer Methodist camp, but I don't know about the other two.
Are you near me?

23. Not far...Near College Park and University Park...
I'm in Riverdale Park. For some reason this area has a number of places with the name Park in them. I suspect it enhances property values.

There's a person in Washington Grove that I sometimes take my violin bow to, when it needs rehairing. Is Emory Grove around Emory Road? I've not heard of that community before. :hi:

24. Well I can understand the need to ease congestion, but...
I don't really understand why they couldn't begin with a Metro route that circumnavigates the Beltway. I also don't understand why they need to cut through large swatches of undeveloped land, including stream valleys, rather than modifying existing roads like 198.

I also don't understand why, after there was an agreement to construct a hiker/biker path along the route, "they" (whoever that might be) suddenly decided that it would be environmentally irresponsible.

I can't help feeling that we paid big bucks for "studies" that weren't well-thought.

I hope he'll come back. It's got to be tough performing when the MARC trains stop there every 15 minutes!
