Don't buy a cordless mouse. |
|
They go through batteries like kid through M&M's.
The optical part is really nice but you can get that in a USB mouse. I'm getting rid of this thing today.

9. Agreed. The cord doesn't bother me... |

I never really saw the appeal. It's not like a phone where being cordless lets you continue your conversation from the kitchen to the living room or the front porch or wherever. But with a wireless mouse, if I move more than a foot or two from my computer, I can't see the screen anyway. (Plus, you still need a mousing surface.)
If you had some Architectural Digest type of home or something, maybe, or for controlling a computer in a conference room or something, maybe, but other than that, just kind of a pain in the neck with rechargers and such.
The Logitech optical 3-button scrolling mouse is great, and you can get them for about $15... works for me!

5. Battery life is directly related to time spent at DU |
|
The more you DU the more batteries you need. :P
I like mine but you are correct about the batteries.

7. Get a few rechargeable NiMH batteries |
|
and you'll be happy.
I have about twenty NiMH's in rotation for my everyday electronics. They're great. Expensive initial investment, but sooo worth it.

I go through a pair of batteries a month. The last ones were off-brand and only lasted a couple of weeks.

14. Depends on the mouse. . . |
|
The newest MS models batteries last for several months.
The top of the line Logitech has a charger in the receiving station so you just stick the mouse in there every night and it recharges.
It's all in what mouse you choose :).

15. My son uses a Logitech rechargeable |
|
You know, you pop it in its little cradle when you're not at your computer. Works like a charm. As for me, I'm ok with corded mice, but I'm pissed off with Microsoft now, this one I have is the second that sometimes sends double-clicks through when I only click once. This is my last MS mouse.
