I discovered in college that Dr. Pepper is the absolutely worst thing to drink while or after smoking a pipe - it's like pouring lava on the tongue.

My favorite tobaccos come from De La Concha in NYC - 666 blend, Longfellow Blend, and one other one that i can't remember the name of right now. I like the stiffer blends with a fair amount of that wonderful latakia.

I thought of this thread because of the Obama smoking in the White House thread, in hopes that he'll take up the pipe and, maybe, make sophistication and intelligence a part of the American fabric again.

8. I smoked a pipe for many years but had to give it up

I started when I was stationed in the Army with a bunch of pipe smokers, I still have a nice large bowl GBD pipe from back then. My favorite pipes were Eric Nording and I have a Peterson and an old Svenlar I liked a lot; partial to freehands. Usually smoked pipe store custom blends with latakia. Some Bushmills 16 year old when well with it, but had to give that up as well, getting old is a bitch.
