So my dog brought me the head of a dead fish today.
We were walking in the woods, and he disappeared for a few minutes. When he came back he was carrying a partial carcass...It was large, and at first I didn't realize it was just a fish. He was quite proud of his find, and wanted to settle down and chew on it. I made him drop it.

1. You are so lucky he did not roll himself all over it. That is what my dog used to do.
There is a lot of fishing near me, and the fishermen clean the fish before they go and leave the heads and other junk on the ground.

2. It's pretty cold here already and this was fairly well dried out
so there was nothing much left but the skull. A human wouldn't have smelled it! But there was still some flesh on it, and Ollie thought he was going to lie down and munch on it. It was already on his breath and he was just delighted with his find! I was thoroughly grossed out. I have heard of dogs bringing human skulls to their owners, so I guess this is pretty tame.

The fishermen here do the same and the dogs do seem to love to roll in it.

3. It is always an experience that I hate to go thru. It involves an immediate bath,
outdoors...and if it is cold..it is difficult.

4. Walking the Riverwalk after the flooding was just a beagle bonanza!
There were dead fish EVERYWHERE! I got to the point where I was just saying "Leave it" over and over again in rhythm as we walked. Happily, most of the dead fish are gone now.
