Ok, I'm a huge Utah Utes fan and they've got a big football game coming up against their rivals BYU. If Utah wins Saturday, which they should, the game will basically be for a BCS berth. Only problem is, I've been trying to get tickets to this game ever since the season started and have had no luck. I mean, prices are ridiculously high (200+ a pop).

I've told this to my girl and she knows I've been wanting to go to this game for so long. I've taken her to Ute football games in the past (three) and she really isn't into it. In fact, she doesn't understand a lick of football, as she's more into basketball. Well the other day she informs me her friend is giving her a ticket and she's going. So excited for it, telling me how she'll take photos and send them to me since I can't go. That just made me want to strangle her. Yeah, good for her, she's going...but I wanted to go. Maybe I'm a whiner, but yeesh, she doesn't even care about the game and now she won't shut up about it, knowing full well I've been totally deflated because I couldn't find a ticket in my price range.

I tell her I don't really want to talk about it, but she keeps discussing it and I feel like yelling at her, saying she needs to stop rubbing it in. But then I know she'll just tell me to get over it and be happy for her.

Why can't I just be happy for her?

1. You don't have to BE happy for her. Just ACT happy for her.

When she's gone, watch it on TV while getting really hammered with your buddies. That way you've compensated for your jealousy by using her absence as an opportunity to engage in behavior that she probably wouldn't approve of if she were present to witness it.

She needs to shut up about it. There's no need for you to be happy for her: if she doesn't care about football, going to the game is no different than doing any other activity with her friend. She might as well be going for coffee with a pal, except that she's gloating about going to the coffee shop you're banned from.

You should pile all her clothes on the lawn and light them on fire.
