Has it really been a year since Moore's Oscar speech?
Maybe it's just me, but the Moore speech seemed like it happened only a few months ago. They say time flies when you're having fun, but I don't think 2003 can be defined as "fun" by any stretch. It was a very odd year indeed, probably the oddest year in my life. Honestly I have no idea why it went by so fast. Perhaps it's due to a * induced warping of the space-time continuum?

Anyway, I'm looking forward to the Oscars ONLY because of Moore and the possibility of other scathing political speeches. Bring it the fuck on!

1. they will probably have time delay of 90 seconds
and anything anti-shrub will be scrubbed.

I know this is morbid, but I'm just waiting for a few actors to receive something toxic in the mail to scare them enough to not speak.

I call it Daschleism.

2. Ooooo
Will Moore be there? I hope he is on hand to present the Docu Oscar.

Not much opportunity to rave, though I doubt that stops him....

3. Not quite a year yet
Last year the Oscars were at the end of March but yes time does fly by. I thought Moore's speech was brillant and I clapped and cheered from my sofa.

4. I'd be surprised if they let Moore anywhere near the ceremony.
Do you know if he is scheduled to be there? I would be very surprised if he was invited. It would be great if he were a presenter.

Tim Robbins is a good possibility for a political statement, if he wins. Perhaps Alex Baldwin.

Anyone else?

I thought the previous winner presents the next year's award, but maybe that's just for actors.

The confirmed presenter list from www.oscar.com:

Jack Black
Sandra Bullock
Jim Carrey
Tom Cruise
Colin Farrell
Will Ferrell
Tom Hanks
Jude Law
Julianne Moore
Tim Robbins
Julia Roberts
Susan Sarandon
Will Smith
Steven Spielberg
Charlize Theron
John Travolta
Robin Williams
Oprah Winfrey
Renee Zellweger

Jack Black, Julianne Moore, Tim Robbins, Susan Sarandon and Robin Williams might make some noise.

10. That's an excellent article

-snip-

Moore, 49, credited in Democratic circles for making President George W. Bush's National Guard record a fierce campaign issue, is bigger than ever.

The man the nation remembers for turning his Oscar-acceptance speech at last year's Academy Awards ceremony into a bully pulpit to chastise Bush has said he'll make an encore at Sunday's show.

-snip-

more, lots more...

11. Oh, yes: Tim Robbins and Susan Sarandon

If anyone is going to speak up it will be them. 90 second delay - is that true? Well, even if a political statement does get censored, it WILL be in the press the next day. And maybe the mere fact of it being censored will raise its visibility...

on edit: seems presenters don't really have the freedom to speak up. I think it's going to be up to one or more of the recipients.

8. Hasn't been long enough.
How that asshole got the Oscar over "Migration" still baffles me.

9. What a difference a year makes.
A year ago Bush was America's Unquestionable Beloved Leader. Now he's falling faster then Nixon's ghost to hell.

Michael Moore has done more for the cause then anybody else. Good for him.

13. Any word on the new movie?
I heard it was to be called "Farenheit 911" and would be released close to election day (or was it the Republican Convulsion?) ...but there doesn't seem to be anything on his site about it.

Anyone else heard anything?

14. I can hardly believe it myself
It would be nice if they'd show it again for old times sake. But weren't the Oscar's in March of last year, not the end of February?
