Does anyone watch Biggest Loser? |
|
Just one comment: I hate Vicky. I'm 100% sure she's one of the twenty percenters who still think Bush is awesome. Why? Because she's that fatal combination of stupid and arrogant, in addition to being a lazy, whiny, selfish, vindictive liar. She is on the show for all the wrong reasons (go on another reality show if you just want to make an ass out of yourself) and I hope she gets her ass booted asap.

1. Just my opinion of course |
|
but I absolutely hate that show. I never was forced to watch it until a few months ago when I had the satellite cut off. I now get 2 channels sometimes. I always get NBC fuzzy or better.
It kinda amazed me to see that people would watch other people on diets for two hour stretches. :P
Like I said hehe, just my opinion.

2. I won't watch next season |
|
Edited on Wed Nov-12-08 09:49 AM by DaveTheWave
All these bullies and white trash just to get ratings isn't worth watching anymore. They should disqualify people for any bad behavior especially physical and emotional threats. And they should have one person below the yellow line get disqualified every week instead of two. Then you wouldn't have the vote, the game play, the alliances and people blowing a weigh in because they know their teammates will not vote them off. You'd see people play a more straight game and lose a lot more weight if they knew all their asses were on the line every week.

5. I always enjoyed watching it because it wasn't like other reality shows. I really pulled for |
|
everyone and was really happy when they succeeded. I didn't even mind a *little* game-playing. But it seems like the producers are looking to make it more like Survivor by choosing people like her, and it really sucks. That's not what the show has been about in the past. I think people watch it to be inspired, now they'll just be disgusted. I may not watch it next season either.

My wife and I really liked the people two seasons ago and before who worked hard, supported each other and were what I would describe as competitive rather than mean spirited and nasty. The "Survivor" and "Jerry Springer" type stuff they have now is really disgusting. These are people whose lives are at risk and making it more of a nasty, trash talking, back stabbing type game rather than a motivational and inspiring game like it used to be is not right.

4. I was asked to watch it last season |
|
and I watch it now and again this season. I agree about this Vicky person. Her vocal outrage that what's-his-name was back on the show was really ugly and out of place. She's a hateful person. Of course, it's the Vickys of this show that will get folks to watch next week.
As I said, I was asked by a colleague to watch it last season. I'm a trainer, and they wanted my opinion on the show because they were going to try to follow it to lose weight. Frankly, it has some good tips now and then. It promotes consciousness in what you eat. Otherwise, it's a fucking joke. First, most food segments are commercials for Subway, Jello or whatever gum is giving them money. Secondly, how much *training* do they show you. They show a challenge and the "last chance workout". The average person watching the show...that's not fitness. Yeah, okay, if I had a client come to me and tell me that we were going to an isolated resort and I'd get paid x dollars to make him lose 200 lbs in 12 weeks so that he could win $250k...yeah, I could boot camp him through that. The average person isn't going to benefit from this show unless they do additional research and get outside help. What is shown on tv is the Britney Spears treatment. Britney has a new video that she's shooting naked, and to sell cds she needs to look a certain way. Throw a bunch of money at the problem, make her work hard to look like her job demands she do so, and it'll work.
I cringe when I think of the first episodes. A group of extremely obese individuals, not having done any real exercise (supposedly) in quite some time, being forced to do some first-day challenge that a percentage of "fit" people couldn't do. Someone, someday will be tragically injured on this show.

7. I agree with the stupid product tie-ins but I will say it has been |
|
beneficial to my husband and I in that it is very inspiring. We started losing weight long before we started watching the show (we started last season as well) but it was great to root for people and see how people changed. I do worry about what you said about the first day challenge, but they have a team of doctors monitoring these people, way more than the average person gets. I worried about that myself when I started working out. I talked to my doctor about my plans and she gave me the green light, but she's not around to monitor my progress. I guess that's the difference.

if you use it that way rather than as a guide which is a lot of what they promote. I especially liked when they brought back last year's winner (her name escapes me). What a transformation! She lost the weight on the show, came back, won it, and lost even more. That is a life changed.

12. Ally! Yeah, she looks AMAZING! I was so happy for her! Even with the product |
|
tie-ins and game playing last season, it was still much more about people wanting to change their lives for the better. Now it's just Survivor with overweight people. It really pisses me off and I don't know who to blame more, the nasty contestants like Vicky or the producers who chose people like her. Maybe they should just combine it with Survivor, have people lose weight by starving on a desert island. I'm kidding of course, but grrr...

And the majority of the former winners cashed in, wrote a few books, sold a couple of dvd's, got paid to do speeches then they put the weight back on. With the exceptions being Ali (season 5) and Bill (season 4) who still look great and really changed their lives instead of just playing a game

8. Yes, Heba is my least favorite after Vicky. And I can't figure out how she's staying on |
|
the show, she really doesn't look like she's losing as much weight as other people. She also seems incredibly spoiled, immature and selfish, and I shudder every time she talks about having kids. I was glad to see Brady go but I was hoping that it would be Vicky and Heba under the yellow line.

willing to look for any excuse not to participate in the hard work. "I don't want to do that challenge because I think the prize is dumb." Uh, okay, how about you do the challenge because it's good exercise?
I remember the first episode her saying something like "...I look at my four-year-old daughter and she's overweight too, and I can help but think it's my fault." GEE, YA THINK? Who's fault would it be? The toddler's fault? Jesus? Phil?

I felt bad for Phil? and his wife that came back last night, that Heba woman and her husband along with vicky and her husband were awful to them and i was glad to see that hirl vote for Vivkies husband. Did that nast piece work actually think everybody was going to fall in line so they could could win? I hope her and Heba turn on each other as well.

|
else off then Amy was next. At least she gave herself a better shot by busting up that little evil cabal. I don't think Ed is too bad but the rest of them suck. They were soooo awful at that first weigh-in, they were like junior high bullies. It looks like next week Vicky is going to be out for blood. I bet she and Heba will turn on each other. They're both so selfish and immature.

20. My wife and I watch it-Vicky is the antithesis of what that show is supposed to be about |
|
There have been "Game players" before but they always at least seemed to support other people in their effort to lose weight. They didn't root AGAINST someone accomplishing their goal. She is horrible. Just an ugly nasty person.
Let's not forget that editing and the producers can change the reality of a show but it is pretty clear that Vicky is like that ALL THE TIME. The teaser for next week had a note that Vicky put up in the house that said
REVENGE
I will not rest until that BITCH is out of this house.
I would have to assume that that is by Vickey towards Amy P. (smart vote there Amy)
Let me also say this. At the vote out ceremony the one mother made an emotional plea about her and her daughter having been talking for exactly one year so the hostess asks Vicky what SHE thinks (remember the editing, just to be fair) and when Vicky shot back with "Well the numbers are still on our side" the hostess's head ROCKED BACK. I think the question was supposed to be about the relationship of the mother and daughter.
Oh and when her own husband did get voted off Vicky shot him a "Oh well, sucks to be you" look. Clearly he had served his purpose.
Vicky is a nasty ...um... difficult person to deal with, let me just say it that way.

26. And did you notice at the weigh-in |
|
her voice over was something to the effect of: "I know for a fact that I worked harder than anyone here for this" and when she gets her results and Alison asked her how it felt, she says, "I deserve this." THEY ALL DESERVE IT. THEY ARE ALL WORKING HARD.
And while I do agree that reality TV has to have a "villian", they really don't have to do any editing of her. She is a mean, nasty narcissist and I think the scared and shocked looks on both Alison's and Bob's face say it all.
I think the only comeuppance for this woman is that he husband with the big weight loss isn't the hardest thing to look at and she might find herself left in the not to far future. She has an ugly soul and her mean, cold, abusive behavior will only increase after she isn't overweight anymore.

24. I was glad to find this thread, b/c I watch the show but don't know anyone who does |
|
and the last few weeks have shown how ugly the three blue team members are.
It's like watch school yard bullies. And I think Bill is actually really scared by Vicky...she is so vicious and mean....it's a good thing they most likely have non-disclosure agreements they have to sign, as well as waivers, or you could imagine that mean bitch filing some kind of lawsuit after the show if she didn't win.
Can you only imagine what she is going to do to that poor innocent Amy next week. I hope the other black team members finally show a little cojones and stand up for her. They just let Heba and Vicky walk all over, demean and malign Phil and they never said a word (well, in their interviews they did, but they didn't stand up to these bullies on camera.)
And as far as the 22%er comment, I had the exact same thought watching the show last night. There they are doing exactly to Phil what they are acccusing him of.
Vicky is the classic case of a narcissist. She has no shame or self awareness what so ever that she looks so evil throughout this show. I've been thinking about signing up on the message board for the show and voicing my opinion b/c there is littel doubt that she reads it obsessively.

I was so glad to see her stung by Amy eliminating Brady. The irony being that Brady seemed like a far more agreeable chap. Although a bit smug.

35. I suggest that you all use bit torrent and get the Australian version. |
|
It's way longer and more involved than our version, has some harsh gameplay elements but not the ridiculous product placement (hydrogenated oil-laden Cool Whip? Are you effin' serious?). Yes, it's like a 20GB file but it really is worth it.
It runs in five one-hour episodes per week rather than one two-hour episode, so you get to know the contestants much more.
I still like the American version, but my wife and I are both as sick of Vicky as the rest of you seem to be and I hope they don't bring another one like that on the show because it's not the same show I'm used to.
