There are 3 AWESOME jobs available in my field/geographic area: |
|
Edited on Wed Nov-12-08 03:38 PM by LaraMN
#1: Working for the Army National Guard. #2: Working for the Marines. #3: Working for R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co.
Apparently, I am fated to a job that involves either directly, or indirectly, killing people. I can do that without a degree; I have a driver's license and get distracted by roadside flora and rear-view mirror glimpses of my pores.
In case you haven't yet fully absorbed the outrageous awesomeness, the economy RULES and is fundamentally STRONG!
(I did submit my resume for one job that would seriously be great, but I'm afraid to get too excited...)

1. I hope you get the job you want. |
|
:hi:
are you going back to work, or have you been working outside the home all along? For some reason, I assumed you were a stay-at-home mom.

3. I'm finishing college next month. |
|
I want to be excited about it, but the job market is so poor, it's just depressing.

5. Good for you. Good luck with everything! |

I'm back in school again, myself, these days....reading a TON, writing papers...I've got my first midterm tonight and I'm a little daunted.
I'm rusty after 22 yrs.
I just started a 2 yr Master's program for Counseling Psychology. My undergrad degree is in Politics.

I was all set to start on my master's as well, when hubby lost his job, and the economy and all. There's a lot of online teaching jobs for anyone with a masters.

2. I forget what your degree is (will be) in.... |
|
wait, don't you live in Minnesota? I would think they would have more progressive jobs than the ones you listed.

My minor is in "Professional writing and communication."
I live near Duluth, which is notorious for providing scant jobs for recent college grads; everyone moves to Mpls/St.Paul to work. I can't, so my options are pretty limited.

I bet there is a lot of stuff that you could do online - the job market isn't like it used to be. Also lots of companies like people who can write and talk to people, it's a skill that seems to have diminished a bit for the overall population!
Hell, barring that, there's always grad school! When will you be done?

8. My last final is on December 18th. |
|
There is a paper chain in my kitchen indicating as much.
Having stopped and started the process a few times, I feel as though I've been in school for a hundred years.
I WISH I could go to grad school. Financial necessity dictates that I get a "real" job, unfortunately!

10. it doesn't hurt to work for a while and make some $ |
|
sometimes working for a while is what makes you decided you NEED to go to grad school! ;)
From what you have said about your profs' confidence in you, it sounds like you would make a great grad student should you decide to go at some point down the road!

9. Interested in 911 dispatch/communications? |
|
Or is it journalism? Dispatch centers are always looking for people and the pay right out of college is pretty decent.
Rock solid employment with good benefits but hours need getting used to. I'm not sayin, I'm just sayin.....
