Help naming this comedian
I'm looking for the name of a comedian Nemo? Emo? Imo? something like that. His schtick includes contorted gestures, pulling on his hair, and a weird sounding voice. He's appeared on Just for Laughs; also, Johnny Carson and other late night talk shows. He seems to have faded into the background. Still, I think he's funny--just wish I could remember his name. Anyone here know?

He's great.

5. Yep!
I agree and think he's clever. It's always nice to listen to a comedian who can get through a routine without all the obligatory f's and s's in every delivered line. He sure has aged, though--like the rest of us. :]

4. he got his stage name from a sign over a classroom door in his junior high
Edited on Thu Nov-13-08 03:38 AM by orleans
the sign was for a classroom for "emotionally disturbed" kids and read "emo. disturbed" or "emo. handicapped"

kids used to call each other emos and "you emo!" which was the equivalent of saying someone was a moron or "you retard!"

it was basically a swear word for junior high kids -- instead of saying someone was an asshole or a dumb fuck they were an emo

circa late '60s to early '70s.

on edit: (just a bit of trivia)

Never knew that. But now that I do, it'll help me remember his name. The ol' bean ain't what it used to be!
