Mrs. V. will be in Tennessee a little bit longer. Intense stress and worry.
Her mom had a horrible attack of her rheumatoid arthritis (who knew that could attack). Her pain was at a 10 a couple of days ago, and as of that day she hadn't slept for two nights. Kathy got her to the doctor and got her some heavy duty narcotics, which helped a bit. Her joints are swollen and she moans in pain and can't do anything. Kathy's going to stay with her at least until her appointment with the rheumatologist on Monday.

She opined to Kathy, "why can't you visit when nothing happens? I just want to enjoy you." But Kathy told her, "can you imagine this happening without me here? What would you do?"

Keep in mind that her mom is her dad's - who has Alzheimer's - sole caretaker.

Please pray for them or keep them in mind or whatever you do. Thanks.

1. Just talked to Mrs. V. When it rains it pours.
Mrs. V.'s mom has colitis, and it has chosen now to flare up. Now, when it hurts to move, she has to MOVE IT to the bathroom.

2. This must be terrible
for MrsV to see her Mother in such pain and discomfort. And now the Colitis flaring up
Her poor mother has so much stress I'm sure, attending to her husband and now this. Do they have any outside help at all K?

I wish there was something I could do for them :(

I will keep all of you in my thoughts and send good vibes your way.

kesha.

4. No outside help. The VA turned. them. down. because
they own their house free and clear. :grr:

thank you, Kesha. Your support helps. :loveya:

7. And so the American dream turns into a nightmare!
I have no words. This is how we treat those in need? What a country!

8. Bertha, have Kathy check into
social services in her parent's town. At their ages, there is a good chance that there is some part time help they could get through Medicare.

12. I believe that was on her agenda for this trip, then her mom's
health tanked. Maybe since she's staying longer she'll have time to go to the social services office in the town and/or county. This is one of the reasons I wish I were there; I could go and do this stuff for her.

thanks, Midlo

11. Evil, but standard operating procedure

My friend's father had to sell his house in order to go into a long-term care facility for MS. (The reason he had to go into a facility was that there were no reliable home-health aides available in his rural area.)

But best wishes to Mrs. Venation and her family.
