Sorry Redstone, I didn’t see your post. I should know better too, and I really dislike upsetting people.

However, I use dick and whore a lot. I guess it is context, because women can be dicks, meaning arrogant and aggressive and men can be whores, meaning selling out cheap.

I think we need to be realistic and forgiving.

IMO alert was not misused.


on edit: IMO, it is not the word itself that offends, it is the context. Using it to describe a 'journalist' who takes money to catapult propaganda? Perfectly acceptable. Using it to describe a woman because you think her outfit is too racy? UNacceptable and offensive.

I am not questioning either, the mods here do a fine job in a difficult environment. The only thing that gets me, is I believe the "alert" was misused in this case. And it was an interesting thread.
