Is there a general time of day that patients get released from the hospital?
Y'know, like a hotel check-out time? :P

I'm just wondering b/c it's 2pm, my Mom has been at the hospital for a little over 24 hours, and she's still admitted. I've heard nothing from the Drs. yet. I just left my # and a message again with the nurses' station, looking for an update.

This sucks. x(

3. No standard time, but the paperwork generally takes long, so don't expect it to be in the morning.

I went to the hospital at about 10:30 (they said come before 11) to pick my mom up (she had been there for over a week), and we only got out at about 1. Once she got her real clothes on she was getting cabin fever really bad and kept fidgiting and even getting up and wanting to walk out. I told her she was getting as bad as her mother (a woman who after having strokes would rip out the IV and attempt to walk away. Once she fell and needed stitches right before my brother and I walked into the room. As we walked in she threatened the person putting in stitches with "Now my brothers are here and you're going to get it!")

6. Thanks sweetie...My brother doesn't think she'll be released today
They called him about setting up physical therapy and stuff, so I assume they'll keep her until everything's set up. I just wish one of the Doctors would call me. Sigh.

She's right near you, at UMASS Medical, University campus. I spent most of yesterday there in the ER. It was like an episode of Cops in there!

7. Ask the nurses desk what is the latest time they've seen.
When Mr. was recently hospitalized, he was released at 4PM, but the nurses said that they've had releases as late as 7PM.

Sorry you're going through this.

9. Nope - but it would be nice
My mom once got released from the hospital after a 5 day stay at 11 pm. I was at a holiday party with my phone on so that in case she called to say she had been sprung, I could drive an hour and a half to pick her up. I got the call, left and picked her up at 12:30 am.

A year or so ago, my husband (disclaimer - he had not been formally admitted to the hospital, but was just in the ER) called me at 1:30 am on December 30th to tell me to come pick him up, he had been discharged. I had to awaken a sound asleep 5 year old, bundle her into the car and drive over to get him. In retrospect I should have told him to call a cab, rolled over and gone back to sleep.
