Okay, so I think I'm officially old.
The cute 19 year old who's been flirting with me lately called to see if I wanted to go see a movie tonight, and I was too tired after a long day of work and school and whatnot to drive all the way out there.

Granted, the theater she was going to is all the way on the other side of town... long drive and lotta gas to waste just to spend money on a movie ticket. But still. I think this is the sign that I'm officially turning into an old party pooper. :P

2. Ironically, if I'd still been on your side of town I probably would have gone
'cause then I could have just taken a straight shot up 490 to get there. :P

4. Wait...she's 19?
Okay, I'd have gotten my old ass up and showered to spend time with that. And I'm pretty sure I'm older than you.

Damn, 19. You know she'd be all sorts of thankful for even the cheapest of beers, yo.

7. Actually the age difference is kinda weirding me out.
I totally thought she was in the 21-24ish age range when the flirting started. :P That's the problem with hanging out with geeks. It's hard to tell maturity when they have a bigger vocabulary than most people twice their age.

10. I've lost the ability to tell age in women.
I was in an orientation/training thing today, and this one shy girl was there and I swore she couldn't have been 14. Yeah, she was in college.

Which is why I've been hesitant to make moves on anybody on campus. :P

13. Let's do the math on this one...

cute 19 year old

+ flirting with you lately
+ called you
+ to see if you wanted to go see a movie tonight, but...
+ ...you were too tired after a long day of work and school and whatnot to drive all the way out there

= cute 19 year old who's thinking "I guess he's not interested."

Carpe diem, my friend. If you didn't want to go because you're not interested, that's cool and entirely up to you.

But if you really think she's cute and you have any interest in her at all, either as a friend or a partner in crime, and she asked you out, another option would have been to throw your tired ass in the shower and grab a cup of coffee or a Coke or a Red Bull or whatever the hell you like and wake yourself up and make the drive across town and let your friend enjoy a movie with her friend who she obviously likes because she called him up and asked him out to a movie.

:toast:

29. how old are you? Between my marriages
when I was in my mid 30s, I dated a ton of college-aged women - which was odd, because when i was in college, I hardly dated any women that age (or of any age, for that matter)

31. No. You're not old. Let me explain what being old means
Being old is when you wake up on November 5th and realize that the President of the United States is going to be younger than you are.

Pity/sympathy accepted.

Realizing that was a big moment for me. It had the same impact as my college days when I suddenly realized all the Playboy playmates were younger than I was.

34. I remember watching Nixon resign too. I didn't really understand -
I'd been hearing the word "Watergate" for a long time and didn't know what it was. I knew that my father did not like President Nixon. I was 8 when he resigned.

I'm old enough to have voted against Reagan in 1984.

that's ok, my idea of a fun friday night is curling up on the couch with my guy, a couple of beers and a movie. hell, going to bed at midnight is late for me now, but that's partly because my guy works early now, but even when we don't have to work we're in bed early. i've almost forgotten what the inside of a bar looks like, never mind a movie theater.
