I've bought someone a star before (but not this time because I'm hording $ until after my move) and because my intention was to be anonymous I did neither because I didn't want them to know it was me. But...that's me, I dislike attention for my good works.

Given the choices...I'd PM. Let them publicly acknowledge and honor you if they choose.
