I had a "fuck you" party recently.



The beverage of choice was a 3 liter bottle of Stonegate Diamond Mountain Reserve 2001 that was gifted to the STBE and myself for our wedding. Our names and wedding date were etched on the bottle. When the STBE was moving out, he casually asked if I wanted to keep the bottle. I think I surprised him when I said yes. :evilgrin:

I then planned a party with my oldest friends in the area, and we drank the whole damned thing. I had the first and the last glass....

18. We're on the central coast of California so you can never tell

We've had trips when it did nothing but rain and it was very cold. We've had trips where it was in the 70's and gorgeous. And one memorable year, it snowed and that was wonderful!

We have our camping dialed - we run a line between two trees and stretch tarps over them which allows us to set up our entire campsite - room for two tents, tables, chairs, cooking equipment, ice chests (lots of those) etc. - in a dry location. So even if it gets very cold, with a good fire going and warm clothes, we stay very cozy. And we always go no matter the weather.

For Sea Shepherd, I'd drive with a friend & crew member to Wilmington from CH every weekend for months to be of service in the galley. We used 2 different sets of cookware for the vegans & non-vegans. I really admired Lisa, who I worked for & who was with Capt. Paul Watson at that time. I never went on any campaigns, but I loved talking with the crew members about theirs.

I visited there back in June, and I had an incredible time! I spent most of my time in Dublin so I didn't get to see too much of the country, but what I did see was amazing. Ireland is an incredibly beautiful country, and I found the people there to be quite friendly (not like I expected). The food was great, the drinking was great, the sights were great, the US dollar/Euro exchange rate...not so much. ;)

Seriously, Ireland is a beautiful place, and I can't wait to go back. I highly recommend a visit there, if you're planning a trip abroad. :hi:

Yeah, the exchange rate sucked - but the hospitality rate was off the scale. I was young enough to not mind sleeping in a pup tent in the rain as long as I knew there'd be pre-Celtic tombs, or Viking-era ruins, or James Joyce-era cobblestones to see the next day, or people to talk with, or amazing live craic musicians to hear...which there always were. We got around by hitch=hiking too, and there are no more generous people on earth.

127. Yeah, I was really taken back by how friendly everyone was.

And you're so right about the old buildings and ruins and such. And there are so many old graveyards there! OMG, I want to go back to do some sort of graveyard tour - they're so old and creepy and beautiful and just plain COOL! I loved seeing all the old Celtic crosses.

I absolutely fell in love with Ireland. An amazing place to be sure! :)

But when I was in Ireland, I was all "what the hell, when in Rome!" So I had my fair share of it while I was there, and I actually acquired a little taste for it! You just can't go to an authentic Irish pub and NOT drink Guinness!

But even though I'm not too crazy about the beer, the brewery itself was absolutely fascinating! It was really neat learning about the ingredients and processes they use to create the beer, and the history behind the company. And the 360° views of Dublin, the Irish Sea, and the countryside that you can see from the lounge on the top floor are breathtaking!
